Over 21 starts, Paul Skenes has not allowed a run in the 1st inning

He's probably a down low Jedi master

I hope he has an injury-free career like Clemens, Johnson, Verlander (yes, I know TJ, but not until he was 40), to see what records he breaks. He will need a new team for any chance at 300 wins

300 wins is probably not happening ever again.
The youngest pitcher with 100 wins is already 31. Verlander and Scherzer had long relatively healthy careers and are still long long shots the way Verlanders arm has fallen off.

I’m not sure we’re even going to see a pitcher get 200 wins again.
Cole is the only guy that has a small chance at it. But he’s only at 153 and will be 35 next year and coming off TJS.

As impressive as Skenes is, his ability to toughen up and get out of jams is the most impressive to me.
I watched the game yesterday and in the 3rd, Detroit started a mini rally with getting the first 2 batters on with the top of their lineup coming up.
I'm thinking Detroit is about to erase his rare lead but as we have seen before, he just stomps the rally and gets out of the inning.
He wills the outs and gets out of tough situations..
Just amazing.

Max was 24 in his first real season, and Verlander was 23. Both started on some pretty poor teams, and neither player had their first "excellent" season until they were 28.
Max had 21 wins at age 25, and Verlander was well on pace until the 2020 season. However, due to injury and ineffectiveness, he has only had 25 wins the last five seasons. Skenes currently has more wins than either did at the same age, so there is some hope that if he gets healthy and the Pirates become a .600 team by some miracle.
