Any Baton Rouge natives moved to NOLA and like it better?

BR native here and I only know one person who moved from BR to NOLA PERMANTENLY. However I know way more people who left NOLA for BR mainly for college or state jobs and seem to like it better.
Anyone in this thread make the transition from the state's capital city to the state's largest city? How has it been for you? Pros vs Cons, how often you visit BR, biggest difference to you (outside of nightlife and tourism), etc.

Moved from AP/BR to NOLA and prefer it, but comparing the two is not why I like one over the other.
Almost everything you have in NOLA you have bits of in BR. And an hour drive away matters little.
If I lived in an area that wasn't walkable and safe with tons of families with kids the same age then my experience in NOLA would be different.
Imagine being poor or well below average would make one worse than the other.
If I had to move back to suburbia it wouldn't be AP, but NOLA isnt on my Top 10 urban areas I want to live either.

Grew up in NOLA - spent a lot of time in Baton Rouge as a child/youth - and loved being in both ---- was a long time ago, though

I prefer Metry. It’s like living in New Orleans except instead of murder and car break-ins you get electricity, running water, and trash pickup.

This NO vs BR argument might have made some sense in 1985
Are they really that different now?

Aside from the crime (which br has plenty of too) New Orleans is easily better. Better restaurants. More stuff to do, less traffic, less spread out. I’ve lived in both and prefer New Orleans even with young kids

Seems more like arguing about which is the tallest midget.

In a perfect world, I'd live in the mountains, and I wouldn't live in either one, but I also don't want to commute an hour to work.
I don't even want to commute from Walker to BR or Mandeville to Nola. Anything above about a 20 minute commute blows to me.
The nice places to raise a family around either are far without a private school budget.

A lot of people do. NOLA has way more to do. Outside of LSU games, BR really sucks arse.

Lived in both. Much prefer NO. BR was lame. Love it in NO. Not BR native though

As a single childless white collar professional man in his twenties, living in New Orleans was a MASSIVE improvement over Baton Rouge.
As a poor sickly thirty-something during Covid lockdowns, living in the CBD was a massive downgrade as everything great about New Orleans was closed and restricted

I think the suburbs are better in Baton Rouge, but as far as the actual towns New Orleans wins

New Orleans is basically Baton Rouge
Except New Orleans has stuff to do and restaurants that you actually wanna eat at
Baton Rouge is basically Jackson Mississippi without LSU

I’d say if you’re gay you would like it better in NOLA.

BR’s absurd soul crushing traffic is reason enough to prefer Nola

Sounds like a lateral move. Like moving from turd to corn in turd.

Having lived in both cities I prefer NOLA

While BR is far from great, I just don’t understand the appeal about New Orleans. Everywhere you go is dingy and the entire city smells like arse and weed. New Orleans is a sewer to me.
At least in BR I can go to LSU sporting events and higher end restaurants without being harassed by homeless bums. Can’t say the same about New Orleans.
