Offer her 30% up front no questions asked if she doesn't involve lawyers and agrees to shared custody. If she is dreading the process as much as you she may take it.

Divorce was finalized last year. Wife filed first then fought tooth and nail to make it as long and miserable as possible. Thankfully all that is over. As far as the children, I tried going through a mediator with the hope we could amicably agree to what was best for our children. After we reached an agreement and followed it for 4 months she decided to file for full custody. So we went back to court. I felt like I got shafted by the system. Being that I work shift work she was awarded majority custody and now I only get to see them every other weekend. Per the custody decree I have the right to call and talk to my children once a day however my ex doesn’t answer the calls or text. My current lawyer has told me this isn’t worth taking back to court but I strongly disagree. Not being able to see them every day is bad enough but being denied my right to talk to them, only to have my lawyer tell me “this isn’t worth bringing to court, just keep documentation and try to work it out between each other”. However my ex unreasonable and bitter about the divorce that she initiated and I finished. She has even gone as low as trying to alienate me from my children and has been filling there heads with lies. All I can do is hope they can see through the lies and manipulation.

Be careful with the lawyer you choose. They all play the game and at the end you pay the tab.

1) Karen Downs is a huge POS. She will destroy everyone involved including your children. $ is all she cares about and has EBR family court judges eating out of her hand.

2).I know it’s hard but try to keep your emotions in check.

Good luck. For the most part, very little is done for contempt when it’s something like that. Lots of money spent on lawyers just to have the judge say “stop.” No real consequences. There are exceptions and your kids are worth the fight, but you’re in for a long road. How old are the kids?

My sister’s husband is one of the nicest men I’ve met. His ex is psychotic with very clear personality disorders. She got $2,500/mo in child support for two kids and completely poisoned them against him. Now the kids only contact him when it’s time to pay tuition. It’s sad.

Thank you for your insight. looking for someone to help fight to keep my ex’s feet to the fire with keeping the decree. I can’t change what happened and could live with it if we lived by the decree. However my ex does what she wants because she thinks there is no recourse. I disagree. I’ve followed it to the letter, she hasn’t. I want someone who will fight to make things right.
