Samsung experienced 7.9% year-over-year growth compared to Q2 2024. The company now holds 19.7% of the global market, having shipped 58 million units from April through June. That’s quite the growth.

The iPhone is only up 0.1% in total global market share from this time last year.

wonder how this compares in the US only, I would expect Apple to dominate that.
Also how much of these sales in developing countries are cheaper phones with way less margin?

Samsung sells 3:1 in KR to Apples 2:1 in the US so Samsung actually dominates their home market more than Apple does theirs.

Idk, we do know the iPhone 16e is selling well and the Pro and Pro Max absolutely tanked in sales for the cheaper models from Apple.

Yeah well McDonald's sells more hamburgers than anyone else and they suck arse.
Often says more about the consumer than anything else.

I think it has more to do with the 16 being such a huge flop. Stagnation is real for many years at Apple and eventually catches up. Same with McDonald's cratering sales lately. People want to try new things and branch out a lot more nowadays and that's a good thing, get out of those bubbles you've been sucked into especially when the product is lacking.

Could be, but what significant innovations has Samsung come up with recently?
And McDonald's burgers have sucked since the day they first opened decades ago.

Fold, Flip, first ever TriFold coming out shortly, Edge (Apple Air version coming shortly). Samsung has pioneered the foldables market in the West and Google, OnePlus among others are still playing catch up.
Crazy Samsung has produced 4 new major phone lines while Apple has done basically nothing with the iPhone for many years which is what's led to this stagnation in the market. Maybe the Air will change things a bit and get people interested again but I'm not sure if it will or not, just a super thin phone and not much else and we'll see what corners had to be cut like the Samsung in order to get them so thin and light.

Was just reading this morning about the TriFold getting its official name and release date in 3 months.
Badass looking device but zero chance I'm spending $3K on a phone.
From a tech perspective though it's a wow device. Cool as shite.

Interesting times... I've got some friends that have given up on desktops, laptops and tablets and instead just buy a plus sized smartphone to use for all of the their computer needs.

Samsung S24 is a good choice for someone trying to get a premium phone for cheap.
The 25 series is too expensive to get me to switch.

Because apple is stale and boring and the gap between the softwares has been closed and apple falling behind now. You have more options with Samsung.
