Side trip from Singapore

Wife (no pics) is joining me for a business trip to Singapore. We are planning on a side trip for fun from there for 5 days or so. Thinking about Bali, Thailand, or Malaysia. Thoughts from the board on these places or other ideas? Thanks as always.

Unless you were planning to travel outside of KL, I would not do five days in Malaysia. Even then, I'd much prefer one of Bali or Thailand.

Thailand would be my go-to, followed by Bali.

are you trying for cities, beach ... mountains ?
I would hit Thailand or Vietnam or both.
Avoid Phuket these days. It's a mess.

Fly to Bangkok for a couple of days and then go to one of the beach areas. My group went to Hua Hin which was an hour and a half drive

Hua Hin is not a great beach area ... some good seafood markets and golf though. Avoid Phuket .... it's a mess right now. Koh Samui was already a bit too busy and now the White Lotus effect has taken hold.
5 days is not really enough time to squeeze too much city / beach combo, but:
Bangkok and Saigon
Bangkok and Chiang Mai
Bangkok and Krabi
those combos are doable

From Singapore we took a day trip to KL and another day trip to Batam Indonesia.
Thailand - Bangkok then Phuket or Koh Samui would be cool.
Depending on your flight direction and connection I would consider a Maldives stopover.

If you are into nature Borneo is a great destination. Thailand is probably the best pick for most people.
