Focusing on artists/groups, outside of the "legends" like Johnny Cash, George Jones, George Strait, Willie, Waylon, Conway Twitty, Dolly Parton, Loretta, Hank Williams, Brooks and Dunn, the Judds and so many more HUGE names, what are some of the most underrated (yet still successful, just not legendary) country artists in your opinion?
I'll name some of my favorites: (to reiterate, these were/are successful just not considered legendary by most standards)
Bellamy Brothers (they have a Bellamy Brothers Boulevard named for them in Dade City FL near their hometown)
Sawyer Brown
Kathy Mattea
Larry Gatlin/Gatlin Brothers (legendary to me but I'm not sure most would consider him legendary)
Vern Gosdin
Lorrie Morgan
Gary Allan
Johnny Rodriguez (just passed away quite recently)

Chris Gaines never got the credit he deserved.

Dierks Bentley fits this description.
Active since 2003 and has 18 #1 hits.
Probably has never been nominated for entertainer or male vocalist.
I’d add Billy Currington as well.
11 #1’s between 2005-2017. Billy has some absolute classics like Good Directions, and let me down easy.

to morbidtheclown--I don't know what rules you're referring to.
Some other great ones have been added that I definitely agree with--
Diamond Rio, Dierks Bentley, Clint Black, a few others y'all have mentioned are fantastic.
