I felt like the nationals had a good young core and were actually building something

Rizzo is the guy that pulled the plug on Strasburg’s rookie season when they had the best record. Strasburg was out next season anyway from what I recall.

They did great in the Soto deal but haven’t put much together outside that. They’ve also had the same front office for ages. Probably good to get some fresh ideas in there

Winning the World Series probably bought them those next 5 1/2 years. Probably shoulda happened 2 or 3 years ago.

Interesting timing considering they have the #1 pick in a few weeks

Davey should have been gone after 2023...it woudl be one thing if he was developing the younger players, but his staff is pretty lazy.

As for Rizzo, he had a good run, but word was that he would not fire Davey, so goodbye.

As for drafts....Rendon in 2011 ...

2012 Lucas Giolito
2013 no first-round pick
2014 Erick Fedde
2015 no first-round pick
2016 Carter Kieboom
2016 Dane Dunning
2017 Seth Romero
2018 Mason Denaburg
2019 Jackson Rutledge
2020 Cade Cavalli
2021 Brady House
2022 Elijah Green
2023 Dylan Crews
2024 Seaver King

The Lerners are bottom tier owners, which is the bigger long term issue

Yep, Ted would spend money but he is gone, but his son and others are garbage

I was surprised they did not spend more aggressively this offseason. The timing was right to try to add a Bregman for instance as a veteran to supplement the promising young players they have

That said the Nationals have struggled to get value from guys around the margins for awhile in my opinion
