NCAA Football 2026 will only play on the newest Xbox and PlayStation consoles…I guess we know why they pumped the NIL from $600 to $1500. Still pretty savvy.
14000 players opted in?

It never made sense to me why players had any claim to that product at all.

I could see the top 100 or so players…but 14000?

Well it’s literal NIL unlike most of the other masquerade.

Playstation is under 500 bucks pretty sure the Xbox is the same

The ones that are playing video games already have the newer consoles. Getting 1500 and being able to play as yourself in the game seems pretty cool.

The claim they had was that the game manufacturer was using their name, image, or likeness in a commercial enterprise without their permission. They get paid so the game can use their name and likeness. EA could have kept making the game without using player names and such, but I guess they thought that was a significant enough part of the attraction.

well I can 100% say that they never had their name in the any of the games... now you could mod and put in player names. They did have the same numbers and similar physical attributes though.

Depends if they give them a digital copy or a disk…the X box with the disk drive is $750.

All 14000 kids have their names on the jersey? They give each the deluxe version…so I guess they can build themself into a game. Son is a backup kicker…so that’ll take some doing for him to play as himself. Guess they’ll get a game every year?

Because when the games were made, they used every single part of image and likeness down to the number, position, and ability, while never putting the actual name of the players in the game

The second any college athlete takes money from NIL they should have to give up their free ride scholarship. Give that scholarship to some kid who needs an education. I’ll get downvoted but sorry, NIL has destroyed college sports. That and the portal.

All the rosters for DI will be in there. The end of the roster guys usually aren’t too accurate in terms of what they look like but they’ll build them in the game with their name/height/weight from the roster. Your son can also just make himself the starter in the game
Nothing too earth shattering there, pretty much since its inception NCAA games have copied the look/weight/height of the actual players, they just never gave them names. NCAA07 would just have a #15 dual threat Qb playing at Florida with Tim Tebow exact build but his name would be “QB #15”

These same payments were happening prior to NIL, you just got to pretend it didn’t and plug your ears in with your fingers

Before NIL these players weren’t really ‘students’ of the particular school they played for. NIL is just paying kids…it’s not doing anything to the sport. It’s expensive to train.
Son had last week off…went to meet his private coach for training. Glad that’s not on my dime anymore.

Hey pal, have you ever thought about how football scholarship are for the betterment of the football team and other scholarship aka academic scholarship are for deserving students. Both of these can work at the same time

Should regular students lose their scholarships if they accept any form of gift or outside income?

Because you don’t know anything about how the law works. But you’re not a lawyer so that’s ok.

Yeah it sounds to me like everyone just wants to go back to pretending players aren’t getting paid, but still want to pay them. It’s so weird.

So you want your son better punter, but want other fans donating money to NIL to pay for his training?

You’re very naive
The sport has been around for 150 years and we’re about to have ads on our jerseys. Students are playing for 5 different schools in 4 years.
Fans are having to pay for your son to play a sport, while the school gives him a free education.
But you’re right NIL hasn’t changed the sport at all.
