There is a better chance that Louisiana doesn't get hit by any kind of tropical storm or hurricane this year than Matt Mcmahon suddenly learning how to coach.
The administration is just letting his buyout get manageable. they know he is a lame duck coach with a lame duck program right now.

Which doesn't make much sense considering he's getting paid the money regardless of if he coaches or not. He's going to get paid for seasons 4-7 either way.
IMO, the decision was made in January to "punt" on the 25-26 basketball season in favor of going "all in" with donor money for the 2025 football season. The hope being that the significant money spent to build the 2025 football team will result in a championship. If so, they can use that to generate additional revenue to restart the basketball program at the end of next season.
