Got a potential family camp opportunity around the Catahoula Lake/St Martin Parish area. Any decent waterfowl/deer hunting in that area?

The threads about hunting the one up north used to be so entertaining. Seemed like an uncle cousin ran crapshow. Blinds on fire, decoys trashed, lake level adjustment, etc.

Can't remember if i used to follow on here or on duck hunting chat.

The vast majority of it is in LaSalle Parish, and some of it is in Rapides Parish. None of it is located in Catahoula Parish any longer after the split of Catahoula Parish in 1910.

Isn't the lake no longer open to the public?

The only parts that really changed were those where private land bordered the lake. All those parts where either a WMA or NWR bordered remain public.

Op you’re thinking the hamlet of catahoula in basin. There’s isn’t a catahoula lake in the basin.. St Martin land company owns most of property out there if it isn’t state land. Be careful traipsing around out there, they have some people that look like Belizare da Cajun running around.

au contraire...pull up google maps and zoom in on the community of Catahoula where you can see the lake name...

to your point it's just outside the levee system...
