Atlanta Airport/Delta Weather Issues

Wondering if anyone here got caught up in the hail storm at ATL last night? Looks like Delta was a mess last night and today as well. Heard the air traffic control tower was evacuated due to wind. Had a friend flying West Palm - Atlanta - Paris that ended up just going home to sleep in his own bed and rebook to fly through JFK today. I'm supposed to fly back through ATL tomorrow evening so fingers crossed. All Delta flights look to be sold out for the rest of today and most of tomorrow already and this is before the expected afternoon thunderstorms today

My daughter was flying Delta from LGA to Panama City to meet us at the beach today, and her flight was canceled at around midnight. She was on hold all night with their app service and never got an agent, so she’s on her way to the airport now. Hoping to get on a SW flight that leaves at 1. Will Delta pay for her SW flight?

No, they'll give her a refund for the flight that cancelled though

Thanks! Thats unfortunate bc the new flight will cost double what the original flight cost.

Yeah southwest does not have interline agreements (that i know of) with any of the other major airlines (DL, AA, UA) so any rebookings to southwest are paid for out of pocket. But as long as she can get down there that's good!
Surprised they cancelled that flight to ECP this morning but probably a crew issue if I had to guess. Delta has crews stuck all over the country right now due to over 100 diversions last night

A Frontier flight sat on the ground for 5 hours waiting on a gate. ATL was a mess.

Yikes. With that limited legroom too? I'd have gotten up and walked briefly then sat down every hour or so. The flight i'm on tomorrow is delayed 4hrs and counting today, hope they're able to get things back to somewhat normal by tomorrow

Looks like most of the damage is east coast and midwest flights on Delta and American.
Thankful this is my first week in a while not traveling.

Looks like Delta will pay for alternate arrangements.

That looks like our lsualum98's daughter should be able to get her flight refunded and any other expenses. I'm waiting to see how tomorrow goes, currently on time from SFO-ATL 14 seats, already 20 on the list (can't tell how many are actual standbys)
I did book a backup SFO-FLL direct on jetblue that is fully refundable so will decide in the morning

Yes, she should be able to. Just save all receipts for costs incurred and submit them to Delta.

We were scheduled to go from MSY to ATL at 7 am tomorrow 6/29. Just received a delay notification. Says its now 7:30 am. We had a 1.5 hour layover before going on to ELH (eleuthera bahamas). IF we are not delayed again it'll be tight. Only one flight per day to ELH. Glad I purchased travel insurance. Frick.

An hour is plenty of time to change planes in Atlanta.

You're very right. Thanks for the reminder. Looks like our aircraft just left the gate in ATL.
ETA : nevermind.. inbound canceled.

Yikes.
Look for an alternate routing on another carrier. Based on the internal memo from Delta, if this is related to the storm they should cover your rebooking within reason.

They kept SuwMwf's flight going at 7am and cancelled the 6am MSY-ATL based off what I'm seeing. Expect a mess tomorrow morning at MSY for Delta now...

That's what I'm seeing as well. Inbound arrived at 8:41p

Thank you both.Yes the new inbound is at gate c6. It was a different plane, but that one never made it out of atl. Hopefully we get lucky and just a little delay as they try to get back on track. We can easily make an hour connection. I was just losing my wits thinking they would delay again and again. My out island travel groups are always a mess with this kind of stuff. For some islands if you miss one the next flight is 3-4+ days later. That's why we picked ELH this year and not GGT.
