Bridge over ditch in neighborhood?

Brainstorming ideas if it would be possible to put something like metal grate bridge over our sewage ditch in order to get equipment (boat, trailer) out of backyard easier.
Backyard has a double-gate but can’t get truck back there and pull something out due to fairly small front yard, where if there was a way to cross the ditch immediately in front of the double gate, it would be a straight shot and could get a vehicle and equipment in and out.
There is no hoa.
I checked about getting a culvert and Lafayette parish denied it because they said neighborhood drainage wasn’t designed for it.

Really? Sewage in an open ditch?

Yeah, from septic tank. Pretty common here.

How wide is the ditch? Car hauler ramps may work. If you're backing a trailer over the ditch narrow ramps may be a problem.

That’s a good idea but yeah, don’t think I’d try my luck pulling a trailer across it.

We use the grating they use for catwalks in the plants. Granted it’s only used by side by sides and 4 wheelers. Incredibly strong and very heavy. Might work for you. If you needed to you could put a couple crossbeams.

Just buy a culvert and get someone to do it.
If they ask, tell them you thought the city/ parish did it and have no idea

Yeah I’d def wait about a year then put the culvert.

The reputable contractors won’t without the permit and I have an old retired neighbor that would definitely contact the parish and cause a stink if I was able to find someone.
