Xfinity Customers - No more data caps

Xfinity just updated all plans nationwide to allow the use of personal modems and unlimited data at no extra cost. You can also get their gateway for free if you choose.
Downside is they rolled back some download and upload speeds a bit. It really only effects markets that are on mid-split.

Wait, what? Is there a link to this somewhere? I'm an Xfinity customer who constantly went over the cap.
I don't recall getting an email regarding this.

The was a national announcement and also AMA on Reddit on their official support board. You may need to get on a current plan depending on your existing plan.

Our Electric coop ran fiber all in our area. I'm willing to bet that xfinity lost 75%+ of their internet and probably tv customers (bundlers). I'm not saying Conexeon is the best, but it's 1m/1m and $80.
Before that, I had Xfinity's 1+m download service but also had to pay $20/mth for the data cap removal. Was paying around $150/mth and purchased my own modem for $300. No love lost between me and Xfinity. It was beyond shitty business to sell you the top tier only to then charge you through the nose when the caps were hit.

The blockbuster late fees model.
Forced to use comcrap for decades and when I finally got access to fiber my entire world changed.
fricking data caps

I thought only Xfinity and Cox had data caps in the first place as far as national brands go and Cox didn’t cap their top tiers. Could be wrong, haven’t looked in over a year.

Good to know. Have had Comcast/Xfinity internet for many years. When we switched from DirecTv to YouTubeTV, I got a notice for the first time ever that we had gone past 75% of the monthly allotment. Looked back, and we had never been past 20% or so before.
Just kept going as usual, and we never actually exceeded the (former) cap, but we use a heckuva lot more than we did before YouTubeTV.
