That's ok. When the Pels begin winning all of you Nega Pelicans can jump back on the bandwagon and tell everyone how great of a fanbase you really are. That all of you support the team and organization from top to bottom.

I think people are just calling a spade a spade. It’s no secret this organization is run poorly and most people in the fan base are just aware of that. Yeah sure you can just turn your brain off and have blind optimism if that’s what you want to do I guess

I agree with the OP. The trade isn't as bad as everyone is making it out to be. We traded next year's unprotected 1st (wish they would have protected top 3), so if we don't win the lottery, we are betting we won't be one of the worst 12 teams next year. Losing the 23rd pick is like losing a potential (not guaranteed) bench player.

We got Fears & Queen, and I believe Fears will be a great starter and Queen could play the 4 if Zion isn't around. At the very least, Queen can give you matchup nightmares for other teams.

If we didn't trade up for Queen at 13, some other team would have grab him before 23. We got two elite college players that were high on our lists. I personally love this draft.

It's going to be funny when we realize the trade was so bad the "debate" shows can't even discuss it because there is no "other side" of the discussion

I agree with TD legend SFPs take that you should grade a trade with present information. That makes this a horrendous risk / reward proposition that deserves ridicule.

With that said, there's probably somewhere around a 67% chance that neither pick ends up being top 4.

The more concerning aspect is that if Dumars is this clueless it will bite us repeatedly in the coming years. Best case scenario is that Gayle sees the criticisms and blowback and we quickly add an analytically inclined newer young mind to assist Dumars and prevent similar dumb moves in the future. Not sure how likely that is.

Many of us were praising the Poole trade. I thought it was smart.

I was thrilled they went Fears at 7, good pick with a lot of upside.

I LIKE Queen as a player.

The trade is horrendous.

Call balls and strikes

This is the only correct take imo

Pelicans just took it up the arse. Gave up “ probable “ lottery pick to move up 10 spots to #13. Come on man this sucks. I don’t even think Griff could be this stupid… well maybe but it’s still ridiculous

Heres the thing. Literally no one can say whether or not this trade is good or not yet. No one. Just a whole bunch of assuming. Im not saying its good or not. Kid hasnt event put on a jersey. He could be a bust. He could be a good or great player that makes it all worth it. Hell next years pick could be a fricking bust who knows! Let it play out before making judgements on the trade itself.

And if it does work out, folks like yourself will be bitching about something else entirely and in no way shape or form acknowledge that they overreacted.

It isn’t correct, it’s speculative. Not a bad take, but we simply don’t know.

Part of what makes the Pelicans such a dreadful franchise is the incessant coping of the fans to question past decisions. We have had arguably the two most promising chances at success with #1 picks in the last two decades. Yet here we are, and people are losing their minds because we didn’t “protect” our chance at maybe picking there again, next year, because the draft is “loaded”.

So what you’re saying is they gave up a probable lottery pick, for a lottery pick?

Come on man this sucks

It does not suck, yet. Could suck. But we obviously aren’t tanking. Negativity breeds negativity. It’s fair to criticize whether they should have demanded protection on the pick, but they were the ones asking. This isn’t an efficient market, it’s highly regulated and has very limited participants that demonstrate irrational behavior on a constant basis. There is no market value.

Because you would be proven wrong. That’s not lying, that’s just being wrong in the first place.
