Is Ace Bailey's apex similar to our version of Brandon Ingram?

It seems that way to me. Bailey screams lesser version of BI with the same issues but no guarantee he comes close to that apex.

I just don't get why we deal BI only to pick a guy who seems to project to be that guy ONLY IF he hits his apex. What am I missing with Bailey? I understand he will be cheaper, but by the time he reaches that level he won't be that much cheaper. And he'll present the same problems BI did with Zion.

The FO that traded BI isn't the same one that would draft Bailey, for starters

I imagine that trading BI had to get approval above Griffin, but I could be wrong. Also, didn't Griffin deal him after he was basically shadow-fired and neutered? Wasn't that the timeline?

Who above Griff knows anything about basketball? Gayle will let Dumars do what he wants

Also, we moved BI because of his price tag more than anything

BI was so over-rated.

I disagree, but let's assume it is true.

Why would we draft a guy whose best version is BI?

Can't really compare since this is a new front office. Griffin would definitely not but he's gone.

Is that what you think?

BI was moved b/c he didn't want to be here anymore and asked out.
His 3/$120 extension wasn't an overpay.

Should have dumped the fat slob bust. At least BI gave a sh-t. Pillsbury is intentionally giving us the middle finger right in our face and laughing about it all the way to the bank for his $100+ million.

He did end up settling for that, but his demands for max money from us was something we couldn’t afford and that also restricted our ability to trade him last offseason.

Regardless, BI wasn’t moved because the FO didn’t think he was a good player for the team. Which is the point the OP seemed to be trying to make

There’s definitely some BI in Bailey’s game but I think Bailey works better off ball and is a better athlete than Ingram was. I’d say Bailey’s ceiling is closer to Paul George
