Tesla Robotaxi has launched in Austin, TX

First reviews and impressions below. I anticipate a rapid acceleration and expansion of service and a slower, methodical approach to remove safety nets such as geofencing. This is a successful rollout in my book. I’ve known it already but so much for all the LIDAR evangelicals. Tesla, being vertically integrated in everything they do, has all the tools necessary to revolutionize ride hailing services and automobile transport - vehicles at scale, compute and trained data at scale, software, etc. looking forward to seeing this progress and ultimately being able to use my Tesla as a ride hailing tool without me being in It.

I'll pass on that for a while. Let the early adopters pay the blood cost of being on the bleeding edge.

I don't look forward to having to deal with these things in the road. Constantly braking to set the exact speed limit. etc. I'm sure they are constantly recording people in their cars too so now leo will have access, so I'm sure that'll be used in the future. Big Bro state tool.

There's a steering wheel, and a dude riding inside with you.
Leave it to Elon to completely frick this up, despite it being a decade behind.

Safety monitor in the passenger seat as it rolls out. If you aren’t at least semi-impressed by the videos in the links posted, you’re helpless. Good opportunity to get in before the next TSLA run up.

These idiots will never get it. Tesla just put Uber out of business.
It will take 1-3 years for the market to understand that (as Uber financials are pretty good right now), much like it took them a few years after the Iphone came out to understand Blackberry was cooked.

I'll just keep adding to my Tesla holdings while people tell me how stupid I am. I'm investing for the next 5, 10, 20+ years not day to day. I've been big on Tesla since before COVID and have gotten downvoted plenty. I can't help but trust Elon's vision. After what he's done with Tesla, SpaceX, Starlink, Boring, Neurolink, xAI, Paypal, and Zip2, I'm going to have a chunk of money invested with him.

What I especially love is all the hate Elon gets for being overly optimistic on when he can get things done (they will say he lies). Meanwhile almost every auto maker has made statements about what and when they will get things done and never they do. You will hear all about Telsa's recalls, which are mostly over the air software updates, but no one ever talks about all the legacy autos that have major recalls and lawsuits out the wazoo....At the end of the day, it will be sooo enjoyable when Tesla hits the roof and they have to eat their words. Of couse the never will, they will just stay quite, which might actually be better

This. I have a STACK of recalls on my F250 and the wife's Expedition. Take them up there and they say they can't fix them because they don't have the parts. As a Ford owner (out of convenience, not preference), they suck by every measure.

They had my F150 in the shop 3 times before they actually fixed it. They just kept changing parts until they fixed it. I hate to say it, but yes, Ford sucks but Chevy is even worse...

So from MILLIONS on the road in 2020 to safety monitors riding with you 5 years later. You think that is impressive?
I've ridden in autonomous taxis multiple times, no i'm not impressed with something that has existed for YEARS at this point.
