Does Ted Cruz actually believe what he says?

Ted Cruz 2012, 2018 and 2024 voter here.
I find it hard to believe that someone who is a seasoned debater and someone who is as intelligent as Ted Cruz is, could look so foolish when asked simple questions about his positions. Leading to two/three possibilities in my mind:
A: He doesn't ever challenge his own belief system and thus is not ready to actually defend his position.
B: He has gotten intellectually lazy and resorts the mudslinging and rehearsed talking points. (Somewhat combines with option A)
C: He has been completely consumed by the swamp.

Those weren’t “simple questions.”

A,B, & especially C are all true.

If you are talking about teh debate with Tucker
I watched the entire thing last night
I thought he handled himself better than Tucker did and I like Tucker, but that interview wasn't a good look for him..
He took offense to everything and it was obvious Ted was just trying to have a conversation and explain his positions, and then Tucker kept on with this antics that was designed to annoy Ted and throw him off
I thought Ted explained his position on foriegn policy pretty well...
he explained the two camps in Washington and he said "both are wrong"
you need to be a hybrid on any position because every situation is complicated

Interesting. I had the exact opposite takeaway.
However, I had a bad taste in my mouth early on when Cruz kept talking about how we shouldn’t have mandated the jab in DC schools “Because 44% of the unvaccinated were black students.” As if the merits of an experimental vaccine mandate should be dependent on the demographics that are impacted.

Ted Cruz would eat your arse up in a debate. What else do you have chief?

I watched it all too. I like both but didn’t think that was the best from Tucker.

I don’t know brother. Seems like all that I have to do is ask a couple prodding questions about his foundational beliefs before he lashes out and calls me an anti-semite or Russian sympathizer.

shite no. He’s an evil liar.

That Tucker interview made him look very vulnerable in a debate.

Tucker was saying some mis truths as fact.
Like trying to kill Maduro.
Like trying to kill Maduro.

Tucker really came off as unlikeable.
He tried to insinuate that Cruz was bought and paid for by Israel, then flips out in faux outrage that Ted called him an “antisemitist”, which he didn’t.

Ted proved he knows talking points & the reason he ran for Senate was to support Israel.
I bet they chose him for the Senate.

That’s fair. He did definitely present questions in that manner in regard to AIPAC. However Cruz did himself no favors when it came to downplaying AIPACs relationship with Israel as well as being unable to simply say “They shouldn’t be spying on us.”

To be fair that is absolutely what Cruz was implying when he said “Everyone wants to talk about ‘The Jews’”

have a conversation and explain his positions,
Positions which are formed thru a basis of knowledge that he doesn't possess.
Which means he was told what his positions are, by someone else.
Sure, Ted just wants to skim over stuff, and hold a "conversation ".
Example...you can't say "we'll pay for that new road with a parish tax" and not know how many taxpayers are in the parish
Don't quote scripture to try and garner religious support, and not know a general location of your foundational information
Basically, Tucker is showing the world that these clown get talking points, repeat them, but dont possess true knowledge of their words

That Tucker interview was brutal. If you gloss yourself as a politician who uses the Bible to support your positions and you’re going into an interview about those very positions, you better know what the fvk you’re talking about. He’s a typical evangelical cultural Christian who can’t recall at will nuances, verses and sections and interpretations of God’s word to bolster what you say.
“I learned in Sunday School when I was growing up you’ll be blessed if you support Israel.”
So you haven’t opened a Bible since you were 10. And then there was the lack of facts about Israel in general, population, borders, etc. You're a fvkn US Senator.
Weak.

Ted is part of the problem, as are most of these fake fricks.
I voted for him, too. twice.

Even if that’s what Cruz implied, it’s still a bit hypocritical for Tucker to call him a “sneaky feline” or something like that for backhanding his way into an insult when Tucker started it by doing that exact thing.
