Two full days of rest after 44 pitches. He wanted to start yesterday. He has the chance to go deep and would be able to turn around and start on sunday with almost full rest.

If he can you 5 solid innings and we have the lead, you can piece together Cowan/Williams in the 6th and 7th and then Shores can take us home for the 8th and 9th.

If we lose then Anderson goes tomorrow, and that forces to Arkansas to beat both of your best to advance without sacrificing them in the championship series.

Alternatively, you can use him in relief today to finish the game if it is close. If it is not within reach, you stack Eyanson/Anderson tomorrow to win at all cost.

44

He "could" pitch tonight, but you aren't getting 6 innings out of him. You could use him tonight as a closer if you have a small lead OR wait until tomorrow (if needed) and let him mow Arkansas down like he did last month. But it doesn't make much sense to let him pitch today to give you a few innings and possibly have the pen blow the game behind him. Then you don't have him for tomorrow when you absolutely need him.

How do you figure almost full rest? None of your math actually maths. If Jay did what you said and then trotted both those guys out on schedule for the championship series, he would be nailed to the wall for player negligence and not caring about his kid’s futures

I’d much rather wait and see with him. If you’re in a tight game late, let him come in and close it.

No, start Cowan and bring Eyanson in late if needed. Piece it together in between.

He’s on one full day of rest and if he throws tonight and Sunday that’s 3 full days, not close to full rest. Otherwise I agree. If Jay holds him for tomorrow than he is out of the pen and probably starting Sunday night

Winning tonight is huge to make sure your rotation is perfect for the finals

Or... he gives you a subpar outing due to the short rest and you waste an outing and you lose. Every pitcher on the staff wants to start tonight, adrenaline and competitive spirits can make you feel invincible but not being 100% is more than just how you feel, you can feel good and still not have the juice you typically do on full rest.

Tonight as a closer might work best.

I definitely don’t think Ant will start, but I wouldn’t immediately discount it, either. Jay is unconventional a lot of times. I think it’s much more likely he closes it out if we have a close lead. But the 1st 3-6-9 outs matter as much as the final ones. We’ll see.

Eyanson is actually on 2 days rest right now, and only threw 44 pitches. He pitched monday night and would hypothetically pitch tonight. That's 48 hours.

If he threw again Sunday night, that's four full days of rest. Rest on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and then Sunday until game time. That's nearly full rest in MLB terms (with 5 days being full rest).

Well, the rest of baseball disagrees with you. You are counting a day he pitches as rest….

You don’t count any day that a pitcher threw in a game in the days of rest. We’ve been over this repeatedly.

Except thats not how mlb refers to rest

Why wouldn't you include it as rest? It's nearly 48 hours rest. That's two days. These guys consistently are throwing anywhere between 30-40 during a bullpen session in the middle of the week

Rest is a day that you don't throw. It isn't counted by hours. Eyanson woke up yesterday and went to sleep without pitching in a game. That was his 1 day of rest. If he pitches today, he's pitching on one day of rest. If he doesn't pitch, today is his second day of rest. Not difficult.

It makes sense if he can go close out tonight.
Win Saturday w/ Anderson
Sunday Evans
Monday if necessary Eyanson will be on his 5th day
