What is your #1 swing thought throughout backswing?

From takeaway to top of backswing, what do you focus on most? Clubhead position, wrist hinge, right elbow being tucked in, keeping arms pressed against chest, having left arm straight, left/right shoulder use during takeaway. I'm having trouble with correct and consistent shoulder rotation, any tips?

Keeping my hands in front of my chest as much as I can, coupled with feeling like my right arm barely bends, ensures that I make a full turn.

I don’t think about anything except the target.

“Use your legs, bitch.”

Just focus on a spot on the golf ball.

Get vertical while still turning
After a couple of lessons it was eye opening how vertical the backswing really is, just a couple of inches snapping it back and you are stuck way inside.
Made a big difference. When you lift while turning you give your arms room to swing. I would say about 90% of golfers are too far inside. I would have never realized this without a lesson and recorded video.

Look at target line a few inches in front and then just think smooth swing here.

"don't screw this up, don't screw this up, don't screw this up"....................followed by "damnit" or "whew"

“Stay down on the f#%^ing ball!!”

Do all my swing thoughts on the practice range, my only thought while playing a round is what is my target.

Swing thoughts?
A swing is about 1 second.
I pick a target and react.
“The PGATour average time for the backswing is right around 0.75 seconds, with an additional 0.25 seconds for the downswing. Notice that ideally there should be something close to a 3:1 ratio of backswing time vs. downswing time. That means that on average a Tour golfer will strike the ball in about a second from when the swing starts.”

That is a lot to think about.
Consider simplifying things.

If you are thinking that damn much during your swing you are dead meat. I always go through my swing thought on my practice swing and get a feel for what I am working on. I just try to match the feel on my shot.

‘Please dear God, don’t let me shank it”…

When you are on the course you shouldnt be thinking about making your swing.
But you can feel for some things like feeling/seeing your front shoulder get under your chin. Also wait for the feeling of your core activating at the end of your backswing.

“Left arm straight, then up.”

Sounds like most folks are overthinking it.
If you’re thinking about anything past a smooth takeaway in rhythm, you’re probably constantly over correcting and ruining any consistency.
