I grew up when The Day After was shown on TV. Other shows would reference backyard dooms day bunkers and 'duck and cover' wasn't something reserved for tornado warning drills.
Not to make light of current situations, but yeah, ww3 has seemed a lot closer than this.

If Iran was allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon, the likelihood of WW3 starting would be a certainty.
