A friend is looking at a place for sale on Dufrene Pond and I told him I would get some intelligence on the area for him.

Our nickname for it was dead allmends. They do catch a lot of fish but takes a lot of local knowledge. As far as hurricanes Ida did a number on it.

- It is very vulnerable to hurricanes, will flood

+ A great area with lots of fishing opportunities

You talking about the crawfish pond?

My neighbors nanny has a place there. You cant hunt in that pond but you can't crawfish. Your property goes out I think 150' into the pond and you can run 25 traps per lot. Although its on hwy 90 the traffic noise isnt all that bad. There is no access to a waterway so you have to trailer your boat. There is real good fishing.

My son fishes down that way. He has gone out and caught perch for bait, set juglines with the perch, went bowfishing and shot his limit of reds, picked up jugs on the way back and had an ice chest full of catfish.

There is some marsh hunting for deer, and there's some public areas around there too.

Bass fishing is hit or miss.

For recreation you can go to Temple Bay or Gilligan's Island. They normally have a flottila out there on the weekends.

I think we are talking two different waterways. The property he’s looking at is waterfront with boat access to Bayou Des Allemands. It’s that big body of water/ lake that is behind all those properties on Hwy 90, like where Franks is located. He was told that Ida put about 3 feet of water under the house, but the house is on piles about 12 feet above ground, so no water inside of house, although a storage area at ground level was inundated.

Gotcha. Yes, Ida came right up the poop shoot of Des Allemands. Not a terrible place to have a camp. You can freshwater/salt/brackish water fish from that spot.
