First time going to Omaha. Looking for information about to hotels. Downtown Omaha is expensive. I’ve heard people talk about staying across the river? Help me out where should I stay?

You’ve really put a lot of thought and preparation into this.

Plenty of availability in Council Bluffs across river but avg 400 per nt. Most have shuttles to stadium but drove with tons of paid parking lots near stadium.
Stayed at 2 hotels in CB in 23. They were fine.
Handful of hotels within walking distance of stadium but 500+ per nt.
If you want to getting under 300 per nt you are looking at 10 miles away from downtown.
These are all Marriott properties I was referencing.

Not only is downtown expensive it’s sold out from what I found Sunday night.
We are across the river near the casinos about a 9 minute drive. However rooms are about $350…. Pun intended

I went in 2022 and going again this year. In 2022 I flew in and got a rental and stayed in Fremont. Just drove in each morning (30 min drive) and paid to park. Some lots are first come first serve, others you can reserve online.
This year I am staying in Lincoln and driving up each morning and will park at a lot or garage downtown. I made the decision to go so late that I did not feel like using that many Hilton points to stay downtown and I do not mind a 45-50 minute drive each morning.

I stayed in Council Bluffs, much cheaper.

I don't mind driving 30 minutes to an hour in for the games if it means I save $1,000 or more on hotels for the trip.

As teams go home, downtown becomes available and less expensive. 2023 we paid 300 per night across the street from the stadium but we didn't book until we locked up finals.

Same. I paid $300 for the night of game 3 of the finals at the Holiday Inn right across from the stadium. Very nice hotel and so easy to walk to.

I went several years ago and stayed at the Comfort Suites at the corner of W. Maple and 680. It wasn't bad at all, about 20 minutes from the stadium and only $150 now, there's also a LaQuinta next to it. We weren't in our rooms much, mostly hung out around the ball park, went to a few games other than watching LSU and went to the zoo.

We stayed in Carter Lake, Iowa, (I think it was Hampton Inn) which is right down the street from the stadium. They run shuttles but it’s definitely walkable-maybe a mile? I think most of the properties are newer.

The Cornhusker Hotel in Lincoln. 45min drive and hotel is only around $100 per night. Solid Marriott hotel

There are a shite ton of hotels open.
They will free up depending on when you go.
I'm going up for thr Championship Series and the other teams will clear out the other side of the bracket only has Oregon State will be the only fan base that will bring folks

When I went years ago, we stayed at a small hotel 25 minutes from the field. I actually recommend this. Much much cheaper, and when you head to the game, you will be there half of the day and want to go back to the room when you are done.
Finding one with free breakfast is a huge bonus. I had my family (4 of us) so I was paying for everything. We were planning to stay through the championship game (of course they went 0-2), which would get really expensive for food & hotel & tickets.

One thing to keep in mind. It's nice to stay downtown by the stadium if you can swing it.
But Omaha, does not have bad traffic. We stayed in West Omaha last time about 20 minutes away. Going to the stadium and back each time, even after a game, we never ran into traffic and it took about 20 minutes each drive. There is plenty of paid parking all around the stadium.
I'm staying in the Bellvue area this time, about 7 miles from the stadium.
