I know he was recruited as a catcher but I’m pretty sure not his future.
Is the plan for him to take over for JJ at 1st??

Honestly I think he goes pro if drafted

his plan is to mash the frick out of the ball this year and that's all that matters.

I'm hoping that a couple months from now he's in left field in Roger Dean Stadium for the Palm Beach Cardinals.

If he keeps raking, he could probably make more in nil than with a pro contract..

Enjoy him for the next week because it’s the last time you will see him in purple and gold

He is going to get drafted 5 rounds ahead of JJ, not coming back.

Unless he doesn't care for the college experience, he would be best served coming back and earning a position.
One year as a DH isn't enough to assume MLB GMs are salivating. Some guys are leaving regardless of where they are drafted. I sincerely hope he is getting good advice.

Why do you think him coming back is best? Im guessing you dont realize he’ll lose all financial leverage as a senior. And lose a year of age that teams very much care about.
He has played outfield before. You think mlb teams wont be able to put him out there and see it themselves in their systems?

The kid loves LSU and Jay, so he may come back. But he has alot more leverage if he leaves this year. It'll most likely depend on whether he feels the money he is offered outweighs the LSU experience

If he was a fat, power hit only DH then you would be correct. All it takes is to watch him hit the ball and run the bases 1 time and do a little bit of research to know he was a very good HS QB and has an arm to realize why MLB GMs would be salivating for him. They can get him reps at the next level. All they care about is how he can hit and hit with power to all fields. They know he is athletic enough to be a corner OF or 1B.

No, I don’t think that any of this is correct. First of all, he would lose his draft leverage as a senior. Second of all, he is not at DH because he is a limited athlete or anything; his athletic ability could make him projectable at multiple positions. Third of all, there is added risk in coming back and suffering another injury, or not working out defensively at whatever position they settle on, when his draft stock may be at its highest right now.

I think there are still some concerns of his arm post shoulder surgery. Wouldn't shock me if they try to move him to first base in pro ball. Torn labrums can be very difficult to ever recover 100% from

If you can mash it, the pros will find you a position. If only pro teams had a farm system in place to teach and not count on college baseball teams to have to train these future stars.

He needs to prove he can play a position. That simple. Will he, have no idea.
