Yep. Lebron and Pelinka should be able to call any player they want who's under contract and invite them to come visit LA and try to convince them to join the Lakers. Who cares if they're under contract still with another team.

I don’t think there is another sport where coaches matter less, maybe soccer. Basically need a guy to set the rotation.

They can....if its for a promotion (ie. an assistant coach interviewing for a head coaching vacancy)
Do you think that teams should be able to contact players in an attempt to recruit those players while they're under contract with another team? Why is it different for a head coach?
