Hey TD Pros,

With NOWFE coming up soon, I’m planning to book a hotel room in the city soon. Looking for some solid recommendations on wine bars in New Orleans that hit the trifecta:

-Great wine

-Legit food

-A crowd with some energy — bonus points for places where single ladies 45+ might actually be mingling (or at least not all paired off).

Also wouldn’t mind if it’s at (or near) a nice hotel with a good bar, so I can get back to my room safely.

I already scoped out the Wine Spectator list with spots like Bacchanal, Effervescence, Pluck, Chandelier Bar at Four Seasons, Patrick’s Bar Vin, Tell Me Bar, etc.

Curious to know:

Which ones actually live up to the hype?

Any under-the-radar gems locals hit during NOWFE?

Best bets for solo male visitors who wouldn’t mind running into interesting, self-sufficient women in that 40s-50s range?

Bacchanal is my favorite spot in the city.

Chandelier Bar in the Four Seasons has been pretty meh everytime I’ve been.

Delachaise Uptown is another great option.

Not 100% sure about the wine list, but Bouligny Tavern is another great bar Uptown

I’ll focus on wine, your other requirements don’t factor with me.

The Independent (best wine, will have zero crowd)

Patron Saint (great wine, very sleek design, will often have some ladies)

Really Nice Wines (great wine, will have some people in there, uptown and decent crowd)

Tell me Bar (after bacchanal will be the most happening but crowd will be younger and hipster)

Swirl (good crowd, perhaps more neighborhood and older crowd)

Bacchanal will be the most crowded with the most people. And music.

Pluck is more restaurant-y than the others. Cool crowd. Good food.

Again my focus is wine. I don’t care about the single women aspect

I can't help you with your second criteria. As far as wine, Really Really Nice Wines, Patron Saint, The Independent, and Saint-Germain.

I usually try to avoid crowds though and just want good wine.

Great recommendations herein but for what it sounds like you are really looking for may want to try Emeril’s Wine Bar.

But again all the places mentioned are great.

This is a great list. For wine shop (not bar) I would add Keife & Co on Carondelet and Howard. They might have tastings for the event. Single ladies of age range you mention, try the Polo Lounge at Windsor Court. The mayor is in France so she won’t be there.

Might be the type of place he’s looking for. Ladies wise.
