Cliffs:
Driver testing is confidential. Two media members leaked his name while mentioning nobody else (Scottie etc)
He was pissed. He thinks media interviews should be mandatory, but until they are, he isn’t going to talk to the media after they do something like that. It’s a two way street between players and media
Ultimately, I was on him for not doing media at all that week. But I get his explanation and it makes sense.

There was nothing in that interview that was inappropriate or douchey.

I have yet to understand why they are interviewing him about the driver failing
Why in the world would they not have the TaylorMade rep up there answering these questions?
Maybe I'm wrong but ultimately isn't it TaylorMade's fault the driver failed not the players?

Nobody is at fault. Taylor made created a conforming driver
After 1,000s of balls being hit every driver will non-conform. Once it no longer conforms it’s pulled
The only fault in the entire ordeal is whomever leaked the confidential testing

Maybe, but if what he said is true, he's absolutely right to not talk to the press. Both things can be true.

I think it’s verified true. Driver testing is supposed to remain confidential
It’s why nobody knew about Scottie until Xander leaked it to media (for which Xander publicly apologized)

I'm as big of a Rory hater as anyone but the driver issue is nothing. Now, if there's evidence someone tinkered with their equipment after testing that's a whole different ball of wax. But, just normal wear and tear? Pfffft
It ain't like TaylorMade, Callaway and all the other manufacturers don't have trailers on site full of clubs with each of the players' specs.
"TaylorMade, this is Rory. My driver tested out of limits"
"We'll meet you on the range in 20 minutes with a new one"

Okay that makes sense. I figured there was something I didn't know about it.
Still shouldn't be the players responsibility to answer these questions. A tad ridiculous, and they should in no way be required to do so.
So driver's becoming unconforming is just part of the deal. Which means it should be no deal

What exactly has he done to make you feel this way? I don’t get the Rory hate. Is it because he isn’t American? I think he’s been a pretty good ambassador for the game for the past 15 years.

Let me guess, you’re a Freddie Couples kind of guy.

quote:True, and they consistently hit the middle of the clubface and harder than most of us. What could become non conforming for them in 3 months might take most of us 10 years.

And we’d never know it.

This is the real question

I would think because both drivers were older models, it kind of gave them an out.
It was Rory’s QI10 that was his old reliable. He paid an Uber a few months back to drive it to the Arnold Palmer Invitational because he liked it more than the QI35.
Then I think Scottie’s that failed was a QI10 also.
If they had both been QI35’s fresh off the truck, TaylorMade might would be a little more under the gun.
