Previously could bring in 2 free guests into all capital one lounges and priority pass lounges. Also any extra authorized users got free access for themselves and guests.

Now have to pay for guests. And an extra $125 a year per authorized user.

So falling into line with amex platinum and sapphire reserve

You don't have to pay for guests if you hit the $75k spend threshold but unfortunately that doesn't apply to the Priority Pass piece. Venture X Business still gets 2 guests for Priority Pass lounges.

Card is still a good value as the annual fee is much lower than the AmEx Plat and CSR. I'm paying $695/year for the Platinum plus $195 for each authorized user. Venture X is allowing you to keep free AU's and "upgrade" them to have lounge access if you want for $125.

I did a full writeup of the changes earlier today.

I have this card and used it a few months back at the Nola airport. My first time in a lounge in an American airport and was surprised how cool it was. Glad they are still allowing 2 guests on business. I’ll be flying out of ATL in a couple of weeks I will have to look at the options there.

For the record, nothing is changing until February 1, 2026.

Also, in Atlanta, your only option outside of a Minute Suites to catch a nap will be The Club ATL which is in Concourse F.

Still feels pretty easy to hit at least the fee if you travel once per year so should still hold as a decent catch all card

Definitely a negative change though. Expected since it seems like every issuer is trying to combat lounge crowds

And the Venture X is so much cheaper compared to its competitors. Would people have preferred the benefits stay the same but see a $300+ increase in the annual fee?

Nice write-up in your blog, H2O! I read Lucky's article in One Mile at a Time yesterday, and your chart would have been helpful yesterday when I was trying to keep it all organized in my head.

I actually welcome this change. Dulles is my main airport, and the Capital One Lounge here is wonderful. However, it's worthless if there's a long wait, particularly since it's still 10-15 minutes away from most gates. (Plus the United Club in concourse D is just a terrible backup. We must have the worst United Club in the country). The overcrowding from these liberal guest policies have hurt the overall experience.

Crowding is hurting the lounge experience across the board. Unfortunately, airlines are now credit card companies who happen to fly airplanes so they are rewarding card spend instead of traveling.

Thankfully, Mrs. H2O has no problem swiping that AmEx to make sure I hit my spend threshold every year.

The writer at Frequent Miler (Pepper) annoyed the hell out of me about this.

He states "I made my friends AUs on my card so they could use this benefit on their trip, now they have to get their own card"

And I'm thinking, this is exactly why they had to do this. People just can't be fricking reasonable. Shocking it lasted this long that no fee AUs had access.

and thats what makes me roll my eyes at times at the award redemption community

an issuer introduces a benefit, people exploit it to a ridiculous level, that exploit is closed, people riot

like, what do yall expect

Just had our first visit there the other day and it's pretty nice. Busy but we found tables and plenty of places to sit without much effort. Absolutely blows Club MSY out of the water in every aspect.

How is it falling inline with Sapphire Reserve? Maybe I'm mis reading or missed something. Did they change their lounge access as well?

Falling in line from an annual fee perspective. CSR is a $550 annual fee plus $75 per authorized user. Venture X annual fee is $395 and until this change had no AU fee.

Same for Amex Plat I girl on a flight who cost shared the fees with 10 other people. Adding all these users who then camp in the lounges is like watching locust devour crops.
