Leave it to the Senate GOPe to drag us into war. They really want to give both houses back to the Dems.

Whelp, let's pass it and see. I kind of need to see Trump veto Ukraine funding.

President is still C-in-C.
They can try to force his hand, but he doesnt have to comply.

I still think he’s doing it to pressure Putin to negotiate.

More funding or troop commitments?

That’s a lot of congresspeople jeopardizing kissing their tails goodbye in the primaries.

Bannon is doing the WH bidding with this, it's clearly an orchestrated campaign as Bob alludes to
But obviously Putin knows that too

This is what happens when Trump chicken's out.

I didn't really have a problem with Trump assisting to get Ukraine funding passed when he was president-elect. But, doing it now is bullshite. He is playing cutesy on Ukraine. There is no 3D chess, stop funding this garbage. Trump is obviously pissed he can't settle it.
On edit, it was April 2024.

Trump doesn't have a good move yet, and he's used to having a A, B and C options on issues because that's how he sets them up. I think it was SFP who articulated this recently, but this is a black and white issue at least as far as ending the war. There is plenty of gray in how it ends, but it has to end and thus far Trump has been unable to set up a scenario where there are a handful of ways it goes and all are something he can claim as successes. And I don't think he's used to that.
- I think Trump got into office, heard the IC reports/etc. and became convinced that handing Russia a clear cut win was bad.
- I think Trump, despite his bluster, doesn't want to be the guy who "abandons" Ukraine and allows Russia to score a win over a country the US has propped up.
- I think Trump knows that unfortunately there are some Ukraine-obsessed people in the party and in addition to the above, "abandonment" would screw up other elements of his agenda in what is going to be a very limited time period to work within.

Trump is presently trying double reverse phycology on Putin and its a guarantee failure. If he had quit funding Ukraine the first day this cluster would have been over with by now. We can't even get a cease fire.

That's a great way to lose the house and the senate.

So Trump can’t get anything done with his own congress but he convinced Congress while they were trying to arrest and kill him. Makes a lot of sense.

Yeah, I think arguably he miscalculated on this. I still think something may break in his favor at some point, but look at immigration. We went heavy and pretty unforgiving, and the country is already over it and growing immune to the sob stories.
If Trump had ripped the band aid off on Ukraine we'd be moving on. I think the back and forth in an attempt to find a graceful exit (for Trump) may make that worse if an off ramp doesn't materialize.

He already has by allowing the attack on Russia's nuke assets, that's the facts.
