Bigger fortunes. More billionaires. Increasing impact. We mark the 10th anniversary of our annual list of America’s most successful self-made women by celebrating how far these 100 entrepreneurs have come: There are 38 billionaires this year, with fortunes originating in everything from cars to cosmetics to Chardonnay. That’s more than double the 18 we found in 2015. Minimum to make the cut? $350 million, up from $250 million a decade ago, when we only ranked 50 women.

And family lol
Self made
If any of them came from zero at birth and grew up poor they should be in the list. That’s it.

Not self made. Diane inherited ABC Building Supply from her husband after he died in accident.
He died in an ironic and tragic way. He was building a large house for himself. He came out to the job site one day to tour their progress. He got up on the roof, stepped on a tarp covering an empty skylight hole, fell a few stories, and died.

Basically when they divorce or the husband dies, these women are designated self-made

You really think her fame wasn't because of her Dad's connection to Nashville?

Why? Can't be any worse for society than Little Caesars.

Culturally appropriate and such a country gal

It's just absurdity all around. In addition to the "self-made" co-creators whose husbands/fathers founded the company, Kim K, who obviously deserves some credit (and hate) for being an originator in the influencer movement probably had fairly minimal genuine involvement in her product company.
To be contrasted with someone like Sarah Blakely, who is lower on the list with the same product, but Blakely actually designed and sold her idea and used her personal savings from regular stuff to do it.
