Nobody wants to stand in the heat of summer watching that half arse golf league.

I’d rather give the money to the Zurich for being a partner of the state for awhile now and actually hosting a well run event.

Landry does some really weird shite sometimes.

Of the money Louisiana is putting up for the LIV Golf event, at least $2 million would be spent to upgrade the Bayou Oaks golf course at New Orleans City Park, where the tournament would be held. Another $5 million would be given directly to LIV Golf as a hosting fee, Henry said in an interview with reporters Sunday night.

Henry said the money is going to help “get the course up and running for a LIV quality event.”

In exchange for the money, Henry said the LIV Golf event is expected to generate about $60 million in spending for New Orleans. The tournament would be held in June or July 2026, at a time of year when city tourism is down and the hospitality industry is typically struggling.

1. Liv has paid other courses the hosting fee, yet we would get strong armed to have to pay them millions?

2. Generating 60 million in revenue for Nola? Going to need to see pen and paper on that number

How did this go from liv paying Nola to fix up the course and such (which is what they have been doing) to the state having to pay Liv to come here?

For reference, LIV’s single day attendance record in the US is 15,000

Zurich averaged right at 40k fans a day

Nah this isn’t that. If liv was paying the millions like originally reported I would 100% be on board for this. It would help Nola golf

In no way can I support the state paying Liv millions to come here and then also be the ones that spend millions to improve the course

They didn’t announce attendance for Dallas, but I’m almost certain it had more than that on Sunday last year.

Every article says there were more people at LIV on Sunday than the Byron last year and the Byron averages 40k ish a day, with Sunday being their least attended tournament day. So probably somewhere between 25k and 35k if I had to guess

It didn’t

Liv made the announcement themselves) that Chicago set the single day attendance record of 15k

I am

I would be 100% on board for liv to pay Nola to host, as well as covering the cost to get the course in shape (which is what they have done elsewhere and what was originally reported)

This is a fleecing of Louisiana
