I know most people, including myself, has pulled away from Dr. Who because of the Wokeness. The only reason I'm bringing this up is because I caught the story reading the news and because of the person taking up the role:
Billie Piper becomes the next Doctor.
Take the info for what it's worth and don't shoot the messenger...

I’m not a huge Who fan but I thought regenerations happen after major damage. What is he doing here to have to regenerate?
Also they are burning through these regenerations pretty fast. Will need to recharge via Deus Ex Machina pretty soon.
It kinda screams desperation they are trying to reel in crowds via nostalgia by using the actress of the first Companion of the revival series tho.

Never watched it so no idea what it’s supposed to be. But I take it’s not supposed to be that.

Hmmm...
Honestly, she's kind of a safe choice, like when they brought back Tennant to bridge between actors.
She's a huge fan favorite. so it's not really a surprise. Someone young, popular, hoping that it will bring back the fans they made during the first few seasons of the revival.
Of course, if the stories remain as politically motivated as they have, it won't matter.

I'm glad I never got emotionally invested in Star Wars or Dr Who and had to watch them destroyed by Woke

Not always.
The very first regeneration was simply because the Doctor was old and exhausted. The second was forced by the Time Lords.
Generally speaking, yes, it's due to some outside trauma. Every other Doctor had something happen to force it... I had to read up on it, but this Doctor had also expended a lot of his life facing off against the Rani (a foe from the old series that had not been recast until Ncuti Gatwa's run - and, oficially, the one who cause the 6th Doctor to regenerate into the 7th).

I don't recall if they gave an actual number this time, but if they did then yeah...

A bit, yeah...

Just finished the episode. I think he's probably my least favorite Doctor...though he didn't get much of a chance with only two short seasons.
Hopefully they keep the show going Billie helps bring it back.
The "wokeness" crybabies are ridiculous though. Just a bunch of children.

It’s retarded to have Rose Tyler (+ 20 years) as the Doctor.
This series is dead. I doubt we’ll ever see her in this roll for an actual show.

Is that dude wearing a dress?

The claim is that Mr. Gatwa is 'Scottish' so that could be his version of a Kilt?
Who fricking knows anymore. The entire UK culture has crashed and burned at this point.

There's a debate going on about that. In the closing credits it says "Introducing Billie Piper"..Traditionally it would include "as the Doctor" and this didn't happen. That has created a big debate so we'll see. Any one that watched the show up through the Matt Smith era know Billie Piper has had a unique part in the Doctor Who universe. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. With the "bi-regeneration" angle they created where David Tennant is still out there it could create an interesting situation where he and Billie are the same person at the same time..

I did watch 'new' Who from 2005 up until Doctor Karen showed up. (Didn't bother with her appearance or anything else since)
So I DO know what happened with actual Rose Tyler and the non regeneration form of Tennant's Doctor.
But isn't the show headed for cancellation? Or more accurately, a 'pause'? That can last for 10-15 years, going on past series history. Billie Piper will be nearly 60 by then!

There are actually 2 Tennants running around. The non-regen version and the current biregeneration hanging out with Donna Nobles family. Not sure if you caught that

Only the non regen version isn't ( or wasn't ) in this universe. He and Rose were 'stuck' in an alternate universe, as I recall. She 'found a way' back for a big fight but I thought both of them remained there for good. Which would make sense, having them to carry on with their own lives, happily ever after style.
As for bi-generation Doctor? That again is retarded. Retconned bullshite. That's not how it works, just as the Original Doctor isn't the Timeless Child.
The REAL 1st Doctor is William Hartnell.

I'm with you but yes, when Jodie Whitaker regenerated into David Tennant to fight the Toy Maker, he was mortally wounded at the HQ of UNIT and during regeneration, Tennant didn't change, instead, another Doctor came out of him and now we have to of the same "doctors" at the same time.
On a side note, Donna Noble's "metacrisis" was fixed so she can remember her past with the aide of her transdaughter (don' get me starrted) and decide to chill with the Noble famile while the Black Doctor went off in the Tardis
Here's the Biregeneration:

See, none of that is Doctor Who to me.
Not Donna remembering.
Not Bi-generation.
Not FEMALE Doctor ( *though damn, I did enjoy Missy as The Master )
And sure as hell not the return of Rose!
*She was a great character in her own right, no need to trans The Master, but we all know it was done as a preamble to doing the same with The Doctor. They started the game with a great actress, but then followed it up with plain white bread Jodi Whittaker.

John Simms spoiled me as the master. He was brilliant. I tend to buy into the theory that Billie Piper will not be the Doctor. I think this is some clever ruse to spark this type of debate. Going back to the 2005 finale when Rose Cracked open the Tardis the expose the time void I think is a clue when the black Doctor cracked the Tardis open again as a tie in.
As you said, Rose is too unique of a character as the "Bad Wolf" to also be the Doctor.

Too late. Never watching that show again. Hate it too.

As long as the story is good, I generally don’t care, but wow, this finale was just weighed down by political messaging. No subtlety or nuance to it. I hated it.

This thread will not devolve into a "purity test" on who will be allowed to discuss the new Dr. Who.
