Does anybody have any axe recommendations? I’m looking at Gränsfors bruk and Council tool.

I’ve heard gransfors is the best but can have trouble with American hardwoods. I like council being made in the USA but have heard of a lot of hanging and handle issues. Does anybody have any experience with these?

Snow & Nealley

American made since 1864

I've got the Belt Axe and really like it. Great for camping.

What are trying to do with it? If fiskars has the right tool for what you are wanting to do, its usually the best value.

I have the Cold Steel Trail Boss 27inch. Great Axe for the money. Good size, hickory handle is strong but still relatively light. I like it a lot.

Fiskars x15 is perfect for that.

Those fancy north European jobs are cool and all, but the fiskars stuff is better. Theyre cheaper, the handles are way better, theyre lighter and they're maintenance free.

less than 50 bucks and you can get it at tractor supply. Much lighter than others and indestructible

if you want a showpiece get something else but if you want a tool, get this

That’s exactly what I have that belt axe from snow and neally for.
It’s lightweight, easily fits strapped to my pack, and I can cut down anything with it. I’ve used it to split logs as well. Came in already sharpened. It’s small enough to use with one hand like a hatchet if you choke up on it a little, and still big enough so you can still swing it like an axe with two hands.

I have one of their machetes and it's pretty great for using what I use it for.
Last week, I used it to cut a bunch of kudzu that I'm trying to get under control.
