Doesn’t think of Anderson / Eyanson as Friday / Saturday.

Thinks of them as 1A / 1B depending on matchups in regionals is who will throw game 1 and who will throw game 2. What seed team in LSUs regional will have more left heavy lineup. It’s all about analytics and this is how Jay is as a coach. He has always been analytical based.

This is single elimination. If LSU were to lose tonight with Eyanson sitting in the dugout rested and ready to go, I think there’d be room to criticize JJ. Saving him for a game that won’t happen if you lose makes no sense.

To make sure he gets work before next week since this is a single elimination tournament and the game is close meaning a loss was possible no matter who he brought in.

Nothing more or less.

That’s also reason #2 but I promise if #2-#3 seed in regional is lefty heavy lineup I would not be surprised by Eyanson being the Friday starter next week.

You are completely guessing with this and it’s likely not true. You think he’s going to switch up the rotation for the regional (which he is known to not do) then switch it back for the supers?

Hasn’t had a year yet where #1 and #2 were close in stats. Skenes was by far the best the entire year in 2023.
You don’t swap during the regular season because you keep them on the same rest and bullpen schedule throughout the week. You throw both today and you can flip their schedules come regional time. It’s definitely a possible reason.

But, we are winning. Does he expect the team to choke in the last two innings? I can see if we are behind and he wants Eyanson to get some innings in, but maybe this game means more than we know or think.

Do not want to win this tournament. Do not want to be Number 1. Win this game then go home. We are in the top 8. That is our mission.

Facts. You can’t tell these morons anything. Wonder how many games they coached or nattys they won.

Yeah. That’s even more of a reason to hold your #1 for the second game and he didn’t do it then.

Would you not want that leading up to a super regional as well?

I think he intended to pitch both tonight to guarantee they got live work. Wasn't a quick game decision.

This also, if we win, let's him stretch the bullpen tomorrow, to get them ready for the regional

Good Observation. That would make sense.
