These days, I have much more empathy for people who live under tin pot dictators and wake up each morning to figure out which of Dear Leader’s whims are going to impact their lives that day

Trump woke up and chose violence right before a long weekend

It’s been so long since Trumpists have thought for themselves that their vocabularies are shrinking to match Dear Leader

Sure, and I’m going to be absolutely ruined having to spend a bit more on nice bottles of French wine.
Or we can both acknowledge that there are good people whose lives and livelihoods keep getting jerked around with no clear goal in mind, which kinda sucks.

He just loves kicking me when I'm down. The US made iPhone is a dumb idea anyways. Barron must've had some puts he needed to go ITM.

Since when has disruption to the status quo ever been comfortable?
I understand that EU countries will experience some discomfort. That's the goal.
You are also feeling some discomfort too it seems.
The good news is you will eventually get over it.

Being it appears that reading comprehension isn’t your strong suit: I’m not feeling any discomfort at all.
Speaking of goals, what’s the goal of these negotiations? To reduce the trade deficit? To increase tariff revenue? Please be specific.

So you are admitting that you do not understand what the goals are?
You should probably try to do that before you criticize.
"Because I am ignorant, what is happening is bad." This is your position, just to clarify.
Do you think the goals might be obscure for a reason? What is negotiation strategy?
Some things to think about as your professed ignorance guides you to make sweeping criticisms.

Trump doesn't believe in weekends.

For the dozenth time, obscuring your goals is only relevant when you need the other side to reach an agreement. The US can unilaterally do whatever it wants re: trade policy. We can simply say “we’re doing ABC until you do XYZ” and tell the rest of the world to sit and twirl.
Pretending as this is all “art of the deal” is bullshite obfuscation by Trump who simply chases whatever has most recently been whispered into his ear, and his sycophants swallow it hook, line, and sinker.
But thank you for tacitly admitting that you don’t have the faintest fricking idea what Dear Leader is doing, but you have full faith in him, regardless

So we agree we are just spouting opinions here.
I do believe that he is working in our best interests. More so than any other politician in my lifetime of 60 years.
He is not trying to pretend that outsourcing and people losing jobs is good "disruption" for economic purity reasons. He wants people here, in the USA, to have some kind of financial stability in the long term.
But to some this is bad because it causes short term losses in their portfolios.
My opinion is: frick your money if you cant take a little short term pain for the working class.
Coupled with the fact that the democrat party is defunct due to their trans beliefs of allowing perverted men in my daughters dressing rooms, there is no better alternative leadership at this time.

The reason I ask about goals is that many of them are mutually exclusive.
If your goal is onshoring jobs, you levy high tariffs in the hopes no one pays them. You also don’t care what your trade partners do.
If your goal is raising revenue, you levy high tariffs but hope people continue buying foreign goods over domestic goods. You also don’t care what your trade partners do.
If your goal is to balance the “trade deficit”, then the tariffs are a short term, transient means to an end. You do care what your trade partners do, but you don’t actually need them to agree to anything in the short term, because it’s not really a “negotiation” in the more traditional sense.
My issue with the Trump sycophants is that they are wishcasting their goal onto Trump, who is promising all things to all people, which is bullshite. That would only affect the sycophants, except that he’s going about things in the most asinine, disruptive way imaginable, because he doesn’t actually know what he wants to accomplish, beyond being revered.
