Kinda like roux does in a lot of Cajun cooking? I don't particularly like that nickname name but it kind of has some merit as an analogy between the O-line on a football team and roux in Cajun and Creole cooking. If the roux is right, the rest of whatever you are cooking will seem better; if the roux gets burned, nothing else seems right.
