House bill cuts Medicaid, the ACA, and energy

Under the updated version, any energy projects that begin producing electricity after 2028 will not be eligible for the climate-friendly credit. Projects also need to start construction within 60 days of the bill’s enactment.
However, a carve-out is added for nuclear power, which will only need to begin construction rather than begin producing electricity by the end of 2028 to receive the tax credit.
House ‘big beautiful bill’ makes sweeping energy cuts
quote:
It does this through a combination of provisions including work requirements on “able-bodied adults” through age 64 without dependents, a freeze on provider taxes, more frequent checks of eligibility and reducing federal Medicaid payments to states that provide health care coverage for undocumented immigrants.
A last-minute change made to appease House conservatives would accelerate the start of the work requirements and prohibit future administrations from widening exemptions for certain populations. Instead of Jan 1, 2029, the bill requires states to start imposing work requirements Dec. 31, 2026.

Let’s see how the Senate shreds this.

It all sounds good to me! Lol

This makes me so hard

My understanding is the green deal the house cut is not acceptable to the Senate.

This resembles what I voted for.

I work in solar, so sucks for me and a lot of American workers, was hoping for a scalpel and not a middle of the night sledge hammer. I would feel a lot better about the bill if it actually cut the deficit.

It isn't ONLY about cuts, not alone. It is also about 'better service' from our government.
And that sounds like common sense to me, meaning a lawyer did not come up with the idea for judge to later parse words over and block to the detriment of US citizens.

And still increases spending and the debt.
What happened to burning it all down and ripping the bandaid off?

Does it increase the deficit?

What is FY26 spending projected to be? I've asked a dozen times in these threads and never see an answer.
How do you know it doesn't increase spending if you don't know what spending is projected to be?

Just past the midterms. Effects won't be felt till after they are reelected, and it'll be almost two years for people to forget before the next election.
No matter how much you hate our representatives, you don't hate them enough. It should have been Dec.31 2025.

Depends on tax receipts.

The increases are primarily from increased defense and border security.

I hate it for you but solar is the most energy inefficient power generation out there and should have never been considered. It's only about 26% efficient and that's during the day in addition to all the farmland that will never be utilized again.
