Fox News Says Big Beautiful Bill Hanging By Thread, Freedom Caucus Could Tank It

Big issue is SALT.
Comey Republicans demanded SALT for their support or else they would tank the bill.
Trump Administration & House leadership gave them what they wanted to secure their support for the bill.
Freedom Caucus not happy. They say SALT only benefits the rich and people in blue districts with high taxes. In response, they then demand more spending cuts and cuts to Medicaid. Right now, Trump Administration and House leadership is telling them no. Freedom Caucus is saying they will pull their support and tank the bill if their new demands are not met.
Meetings will take place tonight between House leadership and the Freedom Caucus. Fox News’ Chad Pergram says those meetings would not happen if House Republicans had the votes. Speaker Mike Johnson is expected to squeeze and outright threaten Freedom Caucus members with severe consequences if they don’t support the bill. He is also expected to offer them some form of benefits or promises for their support. But it will be a put up or shut up meeting.
Scalise says expect a late night vote tonight. Johnson is saying probably tomorrow.

Massie doesn’t want to be a star or a leader. He’s content to say his piece and watch from the background.
I’d love for him to step up and take a leading role but he’s just not that kind of politician.
Roy I think would like to be that kind of politician but he has limited skill and influence.

They would rather have the credit for tanking it. Those guys are all or nothing. Maybe their Dem buddies will be more open to spending cuts when they take the house back.

Since the majority red states have a higher percentage of Medicaid recipients than the majority blue states, this may slit their own throats.
Maybe republicans don't mind losing their health care coverage. It would certainly save their children from the scourge of vaccines.

Maybe Trump could push a bill that does not increase the deficit $5 trillion a couple of days after our credit rating has been downgraded, and the 10 and 20 year bond yields are going through the roof.

What they really want is to frick it up and force separate appropriation bills and force the Senate to vote on it. They’ll figure don’t want reconciliation. The problem with that approach is that the separate bills go to the Senate and go nowhere because they need 60 votes. These clowns don’t give a shite about anything but attention.

Maybe Massie could take his big brain to the whitehouse and propose something. Hell it’s more of Congress job than trumps. Also Congress wanted nothing to do with doge. You also fail to understand most pork in the budget is promises to each rep and senator to play ball in the first place, not to lavish trump or improve our country…
