I want 24ft bay boat but can’t afford the high end stuff like Ranger, Triton, Blackjack etc….. what’s you baws opinion on the best of the rest? Nautic Star, Sea Pro, Sea Fox, Blue Wave, Sea Hunt, Blazer Bay etc. Whatever I choose will be used, just looking for opinions. Thanks!

In the same boat. Sold my powerboat because my kids are getting into fishing, but have no experience with bay boats.

Water body?
Budget?
How handy are you?
Nautic Star, Blue Wave, BB are all good boats.
24’ Haynie in hackberry for $38,000 or was last week that looked clean from the road.

Water - Mississippi Gulf Coast
Budget - 30ish
Need decent seating for the family when I’m not fishing.
I’m pretty handy, I’ve had a war eagle and a sailfish in the past and worked on them myself.

Just picked me up a Sportsman 247 masters for a little more than that! 2014 that was in mint condition!

Would be looking hard at Blazer Bay. Probably could find a Triton LTS around there. Have seen them for some lowish asking prices recently

Yep. Lots of them around here too. They're a great boat for the area. Definitely more fishing focused than family/island.

I was in the same situation. I went with Tidewater. Not a high end boat and not a bottom dweller. I have a 25 foot baymax and love it.

That’s really the only reason I haven’t gone blazer bay… I need something to do both.

I have a Blue Wave 2400 Purebay and fish out of Bay St. Louis. Run it all over from the marsh to the islands and it handles well. It also has seating for 6-7 when we are cruising around the bay or heading towards the sand bars to hang out.

That’s a decent budget. Buyers market right now. Just be patient and narrow down what you like as do your shopping. You can get plenty of boat and 4 stroke power.

I have an early Gen 1 Nautic Star, it’s a decent hull. My buddy got a Skeeter bay boat and I’m a liitle jealous…it’s a heavier hull but is very impressive.

Only thing I’ve ever heard about the skeeters is they will beat you to death…. Maybe that’s the older models

Definitely a buyers market.

I love the haynies I've been on! Also fished a buddies big (maybe 25') Majek and was great.

The pathfinder, skeeter, and Triton bay boats ride incredible.

Definitely a buyers market right now. Everybody is hurting.

Good luck!

You’re going to want jump seats, NS or BW are probably the answer. Very few cross overs will fit your criteria but wife will like jump seats.

That’s right, there’s so many options but only a handful fit what I need (In my price range). The Robalo Cayman fits the bill but they are pricey.

Def need at least 24' IMO for coastal Mississippi. You need it to be able to cross to islands safely. Some 24 bay boats are pretty low freeboard too, I would avoid those. Blue Wave 2400, Blazer 2400 are great boats but going to be tough to find a nice one for 30k. I think better would be an older twin vee 26 or something like a Contender 25 open or Parker 25. Might be a bit more than 30k but not far off. I fish almost every weekend in big open water bays just like the MS sound and I think the traditional bay boats are a little small for that.

Just a few minutes of searching online. Plenty more on FB. The Frontier below would be a great get. Ranger will ride great but looks like it needs a little TLC, maybe just a bottom polish.

2200 Purebay 30k

2200 Bay Ranger 32K

2019 Frontier 30k

21 ft Sportsman 30k

What is it about the Blackjack brand that makes it so much nicer (more expensive) than Frontier? They're both made by K2, formerly Kenner
