National Review: Barrett is a conservative justice

Marc Wheat wrote in NR:
Justice Barrett’s populist critics implicitly argue for a “conservative” form of living constitutionalism. Yet the Constitution is inherently conservative, which is why Justice Barrett has been part of the conservative majority in decisions overturning Roe v. Wade, diminishing the unconstitutional powers of the unelected federal bureaucracy, striking down racially discriminatory affirmative action policies in public universities, striking down religious discrimination in school choice policies, upholding presidential immunity from certain prosecutions, and ensuring that President Trump was not removed from ballots during the 2024 election.
In an April 9 memorandum, President Trump directed administrative agencies to find and repeal regulations inconsistent with ten recent Supreme Court cases. Justice Barrett was on the Court for nine of those cases and ruled with the conservative majority in eight of them, diverging from her conservative colleagues only on a question of timing, not on the merits of the case itself. Thus, even if judged purely on outcome, Justice Barrett has been consistently conservative.
According to former Scalia clerk Ed Whelan, the justice liked to quote Thomas More as portrayed in A Man for All Seasons: “And when the last law was down, and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, Roper, the laws all being flat. . . . Yes, I’d give the Devil the benefit of law, for my own safety’s sake.” Whelan’s fellow former Scalia clerk, Amy Coney Barrett, whom the president has described as a “very good woman” who is “very smart,” does her best to follow the law, and in doing so has repeatedly helped deliver legal wins for conservatives. The criticisms levied by her detractors demonstrate that they are populists, unmoored from conservatism.
Justice Barrett follows the law because she is a conservative. The liberty of every American is safer for her fidelity.

She is a brain power nobody denies this and has held a life in politics on the judicial side conveying such mannerisms.
When a person of this stature is slated they have spent years if not decades hiding true intentions.
She wasn’t hired to work a cash register…
Our legal scholarship who vetted her honestly can’t really dig into her mind more than me or you?
Lawyers by nature are liberal manifestations.
The brilliant ones wear a mask of undefined source.
This one sucks for constitutionalists.

Most of the cases she has ruled on that have made y'all so mad, she was focusing more on process and not the actual merits of the case because the merits were not up for review.
Judges have different opinions about TRO's. Not so much a liberal conservative thing as just a different philosophy about how to handle procedural stuff.

That’s more of a self own by NR with regard to who they are when the chips are down than a coherent defense of ACB as a “conservative”.
Whats become clear is that to the establishment “conservative” doesn’t mean what we think it means much like “democracy” to a Democrat just means the system by which they maintain perpetual control of the government.

Yet you don't cite any decisions to support your claim.

I didn’t write an article defending her.
All if have to do to indict her as a conservative is to show her voting record as of late.
She started to the right of Roberts and Kavanaugh, but the recent rulings have her sliding almost to the exact centrist judicial position.
Interestingly she’s extremely conservative in a few areas, but seems to swing moderate on a number of others which I believe is part of what drives the wildly different perspectives on her.

NR is correct. The criticism of ACB is that she is not a partisan, not that she is not a conservative.

You’re right. NR reveals itself as Conservative, not as Populist.

I just posted multiple links showing exactly how “conservative” she is based on her actual rulings.
Spoiler Alert: outside of two specific areas she isn’t and is progressively sliding left whether due to the types of cases she’s ruling on or because of an overall realignment.

She ain't what we thought she would be...maybe she hid her liberalism well.
Like James "the old mouth from the south" Carville, Donna Brazille and Mitch "the bitch" Landrieu, she's an embarassment to Louisiana.

she always has been, she just hid it well. She is a woman. Feelings, etc. These types of positions aren't made for "feelings". I am very disappointed in her. However, just look at the 3 stooges on the left that sit on the court. They are all 100% progressive.....and the wise latino is probably the dumbest person to ever sit on the court......but Jackson is giving her a run for that title.

no it isn't....the criticism of her is that she is a woman, and like many others, governs with "feelings".

She is only a symptom. Until we can somehow lessen the impact of huge money that has no effective connection to this country's welfare to our political process, we're fricked. Trump is likely a once-in-a-lifetime sort whose ego is too big to be bought. When he's gone, the same machine is still sitting there in DC, eating away at our nation. They're just biding their time.

Because they were smart enough to realize that intelligent people are more likely to objectively review facts and make independent decisions.
Lower IQ people given authority are more likely to make rubber stamp decisions so they can be rewarded with a pat on the head (positive reinforcement).
So they appoint dumb ideologues who they can control with positive reinforcement and the end result is nearly 100% consistent voting records.
