Anyone give minoxidil a shot for 6 months plus? Results?

I'm doing preventative defense against good old male pattern shinyness. Probably 1.5-2 on norwood scale, so like early stage of horseshoe pattern formation, it's not very noticeable yet cause I can style my hair, but I'd rather not let it get to a point where it's too far gone.
Been hitting CVS minox foam, maybe a month, I know results won't kick in for 4-6.
So has anyone had any positive effects? Negatives?

Tried it and it didn’t do a damn thing for me

I heard it messes with your testosterone. I’m not saying it does just telling you what I heard.

Just be a man and shave your head

Hmm, yep I read studies that some people wont' respond to it. I might be one of them, at very least it's cheap and not really disruptive to apply.

Took about four months to notice it, but the foam has absolutely worked for me. Filling in thin patches around the front of my hairline. Twice daily (most days), but I took a before picture and can clearly notice the growth of new hair. I’m now seven months in and recently switched to oral minoxidil (1.25mg daily), not sure if it will generate the same results but it certainly is more convenient.
An added benefit is that minoxidil is a blood pressure reducing medicine. Hypertension runs in my family so hopefully it is an ancillary off label benefit… but obviously not the focus of the treatment for me.
Stick with it and take some pictures today to compare results in a few months.

The pill form CAN mess with your testosterone levels but the spray or other topical forms will not

Finasteride pill daily is better if you're beginning to thing. Less dangerous to have around kids, wife, etc... I think the effective dosage is like 3.5mg a week or something to see some results

For most people it will slow down the process. For some people it will do nothing.
Taking at least 1mg of finasteride three times a week and up to 1mg a day will drastically slow the process for most people and maybe totally halt the process. Combined with minoxidil most men will take probably 3, 4, or 5 times longer to go bald.
So if you'd go bald in 5 years doing nothing, combining the two will make you not go bald for maybe 20 or 25 years.

I think you're referring to finasteride which is taken orally and is a part of hair-loss protocol some people get on. I doubt topical minox on the scalp is going to drastically impact your hormonal levels. Oral, still unlikey according to studies.

With my luck it would drip down and give me hairy ears.

Just go to Turkey, bro, and get that hair transplant.

That's one thing I was worried about finasteried is it effing with my T and hormonal levels and losing energy. Lots of occurances of that and mechanism it operates on is different than minox. Minox, especially topical is less effective, but side effective is less pronounced if such is the case.
I really don't want to put anything in my body that's going to f-k with my hormone levels or mood, unless it's organic and natural.

If the former, that's worth enough for me. shite, I feel like I'm getting a placebo effect just by applying it because I feel like I'm doing something. hahaha
I tried rosemary oil, yeah, doesn't do shite. Maybe I didn't do it long enough, but besides a mess and that shite absolutely irritating if you sweat and get it in your eyes, it did nothing.
I"m basically just doing low-carb, limiting sugars, getting enough zinc, copper, caffeine shampoo and trying to drink more green tea. Also watching my stress levels, cause I think it's the chronic stress that causes the thinning.

Giving up alcohol will help.

1mg of finasteride isn't going to lower your test levels. Actually it's more likely to increase your total and free test levels because you won't convert as much to DHT.

That's awesome to hear. I'm on the fence about oral, cause I don't want to simulate growth everywhere, haha, but the efficacy is said to be higher in oral dosages. I feel maybe microneedling combination can help deliver it effectively. I don't go crazy where I have deep red rash or scaring.

Your reply reads defeatist. If you've gone bald, then I guess something like this is foolish to you. But most dudes even with a full thick head of hair want to maintain it to a degree. shite, most men would rather have hair than not, there's nothing wrong with trying to keep it. Just like there's nothing wrong with lifting weights and watching shite you put in your body.
Than there's another thing like face and head type that looks better with hair than bald and there are dudes who actually look better bald. So it's very individual, I just don't think I'm the type to look good shaven.
