.@LSUCoachJ coached his 250th game @LSUbaseball on Saturday. His record is exactly the same as Skip Bertman's 1st 250 games - 177-73 - now tied-best in program history. - per Todd Politz

Both are very impressive. Skip took over a much different program but it was also a much different conference and game back then.

Oh Yes Sir!!

LETS GEAUX!!!

P.S. Everyone here can nitpick all day long, about “Game Time Decisions” but the reality/truth is CJJ has done exactly what he was tasked to do …. RESTORE LSU back to its rightful place!!! A NATIONAL BRAND… that exemplifies what college baseball is all about (while balancing NIL = EXTREMELYHARD)

That’s a tough “Breaking Ball” that no one before him has had to navigate.

Let’s GEAUX!!

Keep Grinding CJJ & TEAM!!!

I believe Jay Johnson is by far the best baseball coach we’ve had since Skip, and I hope he’s at LSU for two or three decades, but Skip’s record by that point was infinitely more impressive at that time.

Skip built it and it was a different game at that point. You had a lot more small schools really competing and the sec wasn’t dominating.

Jay got the brand but the conference now has 12 really good teams year in and year out

Both pretty damn impressive

Hard to believe it’d already been 250 games

The next 250 will be even better. He's got some absolutely loaded classes coming in, and he's the best portal recruiter in America.

Can't believe how lucky we got with him. Thankfully we didn't get the rant golden boys in Godwin or McDonnell, and thank frick we didn't get the old guard wish and hire Bianco.

Best coach in the country.

Jay is going to end up being the best hire by Scott.

He actually did his job and found the best person at the time that he could.

It was certainly a bigger jump for LSU, though Lamabe did have the program on a winning trajectory, but not by much. But SEC baseball was not what it is now in terms of competition, either. Skip will be the first guy to tell you that.

Believe it or not, Lamabe was the first full-time head baseball coach at LSU when he took over in 1979. All the previous coaches were also part of the staff of another sport, some were even the head coach of another sport. Lamabe's predecessor, Jim Smith(1966-1978), was also the equipment manager for the football team. That is how much the college baseball at LSU has changed.

It's obvious that college baseball transitioned from a sport played just above intramural level to replace the minor leagues. Fifty years ago a ball player went pro out of high school. College football has always been the farm system for that sport. Skip was a pioneer during his tenure. Jay is excellent and competes well in the league that exists today. LSU is a baseball blue blood

Congrats! CJJ is a great coach, to the idiots that want him fired and compare him to Coach O.

With Jays work ethic this program is in great shape for the long haul. Between coaching and the talent I’d be extremely disappointed if this team wasn’t in Omaha. Been ranked top 8 all year, it would take some bad luck for us not to make it

No shot. The SEC and overall baseball world that CJJ deals with are 1000 times more difficult than what Skip had to deal with.

He's like a nice Nick Saban! Relentless and always coaching. But no yelling and being out of control.

I know he drives some crazy with his offensive timeouts but it feels like it’s always perfect timing
