Was looking at the Breakers but any other suggestions?

Not a beachfront resort but the beach is very close, short rideshare.
Las Olas Blvd in Ft Lauderdale has lots of hotels, restaurants, bars, shopping, spas. All very walkable. Many of the hotels have rooms above the river. Lots of yacht traffic, waterfront bars, sightseeing boat rides.
This is the hotel we stayed at a couple years ago. Frankly, it wasn't the fanciest but the location was amazing. The website main page is a video. Riverside Hotel

Are you bringing kids?
If so and maybe even if not, there is a really nice JW in Aventura with a waterpark (but only open to guests and day visits). It’s a nice hotel complex as well. And across from the Aventura Mall which has some really good restaurants in it.

Then yeah go somewhere else. Any reason you are staying north of FLL?
Biltmore down in Coral Gables is aces.

FWIW I lived in PB Gardens & Boca for a number of years and when I go back to visit it’ll be Delray Beach no doubt. Incredible spot for strolling around the shops and great food in the area.

Are you on a budget? Any non-franchise beachfront resort in Broward/Palm Beach county is going to be expensive as frick

My apartment complex has an AirBnB unit. You can come be my neighbor for a long weekend, help subsidize my rent. Way less expensive than a resort.
15 minute walk to the beach. 10 minutes to nice restaurants. Safe neighborhood. Quiet. On the water.

Cool, where? I have a conference in WPB to attend. Always prefer STRs to hotels. Esp when the hotel is overrun by attendees.

About half a mile east from your previous hotel recommendation in this thread.

If you don't have to be on the beach, but just a short walk to it, check out Cranes Beach house in Delray.
