I've seen them about a dozen times. They're great.

A friend of mine said to go in clothes you don't care about if you do go. They spray tons of fake blood and cum into the crowd and it stains and ruins clothes.

It is just water with food coloring. It does not stain your clothes, though I've always worn a black tshirt. You will need to take a shower when you get home to get the slight blue or red tint off your skin as well but it comes off pretty easy.

Saw them at a music festival back in 2022. It was very very fun, but at a festival with so many other options, I got bored about 20 minutes into their schtick and went and saw something else. It's a great schtick, though. In my opinion, if you have any enjoyment for big theatrical rock acts, and you have a sense of humor, go see GWAR. They're in a similar vein to Kiss, Ghost, and Mac Sabbath to me.

My previous reply to the same question...

I saw them here in Richmond, VA in '87 (?) at the Jade Elephant. I had no idea who GWAR was at the time, and went with a couple buddies who had seen them before. The "venue" was tiny, I was front & center at the stage, and left soaking wet from all the green & red liquid being sprayed from the mouths of the spinning shrunken heads/props. Crazy show, had a blast.

I posted this in the last Gwar thread:
I saw them once, 1994 my senior year of high school.
My mom didn't want me to go to a concert at Tipitinas on a school night. I was able to convince her it was a once in a lifetime opportunity for me.
"They're dressed like aliens, and they shoot fake blood all over the crowd. I can't miss this."
She let me go on the condition that no matter what time I got home, I had to go to school the next day.
Concert was a blast. Got a little drunk. Got a little high. Made out with some random goth chick while getting splooged on from the Cuttlefish of Cthulu. Took a faceful of Slymenstra's crotch blood.
Got home at 3am. Made it to school on time. Though I still had Gwar juice under my finger nails, and my blonde hair had a slight tinge of red in it.

sadly, I'm dating myself but did see them in 91 or 92 at the old New Orleans Music Hall. Can't recall the opener, but it was a name.
Worth seeing once, maybe twice in a lifetime. Theatrics of the highest order.
