Absolutely stupid hypothetical question college/amateurism related.

If a player played in the NBA and for whatever reason wanted to go back and play college basketball…. Could they?
And if not, couldn’t they just sue and be able to based off of right to work?
Perhaps there is an old NBA player that wants to use college basketball in the same way UEFA league players use the MLS …. A retirement league for easy paydays.

I’m surprised there aren’t college kids in the UFL…if you’re in the portal, what’s a better way to get picked up than to get playing time with semi-pros?

They can't. Unless it's a different sport. That's pretty cut and dry.
NIL is so new that I'm not sure this has been done yet, so I don't think there's a court ruling on this. But it's bound to happen.

Unless I’m wrong, I’m pretty sure LSU just signed a kid that played professionally in Israel.

Unless the player never enrolled in a US college no.
There are still eligibility rules that state the players has 5 years to play 4 with exceptions for injuries. If the player enrolled in college, left to play professionally, and decided to come back it would have to be within those remaining years of eligibility left.

It would have to be within the 5 years of eligibility as that’s a current rule. Not saying it won’t be challenged and not saying it won’t win, but currently they cannot.
And I can guarantee you that if this happens, all support for college football and basketball and any other sport that does this will wither and die.
