I'm sure you've come across your share of people in life who seemed destined to become criminals from birth. Their criminal minds appeared to stem more from genetic makeup rather than environmental factors. No matter the circumstances or however many opportunities or role models, these folks intentionally seemed to preoccupy their time with criminal thoughts and actions--their base instinct to gravitate toward crime rather than benevolent behaviors.

Since many of our behaviors developed throughout human and animal history and can be seen playing out in nature, I wonder what place in nature's hierarchy these people would have occupied throughout history. Was there an evolutionary advantage to having a criminal mind throughout time, which allowed them to proliferate? Think about some of the most heinous individuals you can imagine in today's maximum-security prisons. How would they have functioned in nature? Obviously, at some point, groups and cultures throughout the world deemed them incompatible within society.

Are the criminals of today simply the descendants of the most savage and efficient survivors throughout time before finally becoming detrimental to the rise of societies? Why do they continue to proliferate today?

Hard disagree, especially if we're talking modern society.

shite culture creates pathological behavior.

While true, surely you can admit to having knowledge of a few individuals who seemed to have a criminal proclivity straight from the womb.

Romans 3:23 (ESV) 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

quote:

Romans 3:10-12 (ESV) 10 as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; 11 no one understands; no one seeks for God. 12 All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.”

quote:

Romans 6:23 (ESV) 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The Bible explains that we are all sinners having descended from Adam who committed the first human sin. We are in need of the salvation God offers by grace through faith in his Son, Jesus, who took on human flesh, lived a perfect life, died a substitutionary death in our place, and was raised from the dead to demonstrate God’s power and acceptance of his sacrifice.

The correct frame of reference is not that we are basically good and criminals are some kind of moral anomaly among us. We are all sinners and traitors who have essentially spit in the face of a holy God who spoke the universe into existence by a mere word. Consider how earthly kings would react to such an affront and then ponder the love of a God who would instead sacrifice his own Son to save such sinners.

quote:

Romans 10:9-10 (ESV) 9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

It's a human's natural disposition to be selfish and devious since the fall of man

That's not necessarily genetic. You'd need a lineage with the same proclivities

People sometimes are not wired correctly, mentally. This exists outside of crime. I mean pica exists, for one crazy non-criminal example.

People born with the sociopathy error are certainly more prone to criminality

"Grug want meat.
Grug have no meat.
Grug's neighbor, David, has meat.
Grug beat David's head in with club and take meat.
Grug has meat."

Rinse and repeat with David's wife, or whatever

Humans are fricking animals by nature and civilized beasts by practice. Killin one another, stealing shite, raping the weak and doing all manner of ill shite is the actual nature of man, not living nice orderly lives with rules and laws and societal expectations. Its amazing that we have evolved into somewhat civilized creatures.....

I 100% know this guy. His family was a well-to-do, old school farming family...good salt of the earth people and absolutely LOADED with old school farming money and land. Their oldest son has lived his entire adult life in jail for various thefts, small crimes. He can build or weld anything they ask him to in the joint. I remember deer hunting with him when I was young (8 or so) and he was 14. He would light up cigarettes in the box stand and brag about being a rebel. Shortly after that he was picked up in town for b&e in churches and other businesses.

Kid was 100% an outlier from the rest of his family, and can't spend more than 10 minutes in the real world without getting picked up for something.
