The Coup In Romania Proceeds To Next Stage With A New “Election”

Independent candidate Georgescu won the previous election.
NATO is currently building the largest military base in Europe, one that is expected to house more than 50K people, close to the Black Sea in Romania.
Georgescu has been very critical of the establishment political parties and the planned NATO base, vowing to cut it.
After winning the election, the results were invalidated because of claims of Russian misinformation. Georgescu was then arrested. Still leading in the polls, he was then banned from running again because he was deemed a threat to democracy.
The ultimate winner is expected to be the Social Democrat, the party that has largely ruled Romania for the past 30 years.

Romania isn't Poland, but they spend more than 2% of GDP on military
Who do you think is paying for it? The countries who spend less for their defense? "NATO" doesn't have money on its own.

This is an irrelevant aside to the larger issue that the will of the people in Romania is being suppressed. You know this but try to deflect and divide rather than simply agree that this is wrong.

They do spend but the gripe from the U.S. is that it's not proportional. There are still billions changing hands.
