Wasn’t even close

What the hell was Milam doing - 2 outs, run on contact right? When they showed the guy fielding the ball Milam wasn't even in the frame. He should have been rounding third about then or damn close to it. What the hell was going on.

That was a bad call by the 3rd base coach. But the throw to the cut off was spot on and by then he had already sent him.

Meh. I get it. They were forcing A&M to make the perfect throw from the outfield.
Unfortunately…they executed to perfection. Sometimes the other team just makes the play.

Good advice in retrospect. Now, you make the decision in real time instead of bitching from your recliner.

Clean pickup by outfielder on a difficult play was the key.

Sometimes you gotta bet for the odds of the other team making the perfect throw.

Man, it didn’t have to be perfect, just average. And it was above average and they nailed him by three or four steps.

Anyone got a screenshot of that outstanding 3rd base coach in action?

Not when the lineup is turning over to Curiel and Jones. And it didn't even require a perfect throw

We have had a lot of ‘out at the plate’s’ this year.

Weren’t we down by one at the time? Facing that pitcher we probably have a 20% chance of driving him in. Was there at least a 20% chance A&M flubs the relay? Or the throw in from left? Also, the outfielder might have been behind the that diagonal wall when the third base coach made the call.

No. It was 1-1 game. Milam was out by 5 strides. It was not a close play. It did not require a perfect relay. It was simply a bad call.
And yes Curiel was buns yesterday, but dude has been nails and your risk/reward money is on Curiel in that spot, not Milam.

You have him going at full speed while watching the throw from the outfiedl.
When you see the good throw to the relay man, you put up the brakes.
At this point Milan is just rounding 3rd as the relay man is about to catch the throw. It was a very easy relay throw to get him out at home by 20 feet.

Teams at this level are always going to make that play with the amount of time that they had. He was out by 15 feet with the perfect relay. With a bobble and a throw up the line he's still out.

Yeah you take a chance there. Needed the perfect relay throw and they got it. I don’t mind them being aggressive in that situation. Great time to get some practice in and know when you have on the bases too. Didn’t work out in our favor but again it was a perfect relay.
no harm no foul

It was a bad decision. I believe he was rounding third place about the time the left fielder got it. Not enough time. That said, Skip may have done the same thing. His philosophy was the outfielder has to field it cleanly, he has to hit the relay man or make a perfect throw to home, the catcher has to catch it and then apply the tag. If one of those steps goes awry, Milam is safe.
