The 1989 College Station Regional....

The Tigers beat the Aggies twice on the final day (13-5, 5-4, 11 innings) to advance to the CWS. LSU played 6 games in 4 days. The Aggies were 55-5 going into the regional.
Skip writes about it in his book. One of the fascinating things was when the teams switched dugouts between games, he told his players to look the Aggie players right in the face as they passed them. The Aggies all looked defeated. He knew we were going to win.

There will never be another Skip Bertman.

Also he told them ( not quoting) 73% of game one winners win game 2…. We have Ben Macdonald pitching game.

I was in the stadium for this. The a&m fans were so confident they would steam roll us on their way to a national championship. Very angry at the end of the day.

That was a watershed moment for LSU baseball. We didn't win it that year but winning that regional showed it was only a matter of time.

Listened to both games with my dad on a handheld radio, great memory.

Probably the best college baseball team ever, big statement but if you look at the pro careers after college.....stout.

There are many of them who are still not over it. If you are at the games and run into an older A&M fan, just say "remember 1989.....Bitch!"

A&M fans throwing batteries at Ben McDonald in the bullpen..
Aggies showed their true colors and ended up with their arse beat.

LSU has always owned A&M
We’re just another UT to them honestly. I’d say the same about OU for them too. They gave 3 daddy’s. Hell, make it 4 with Bama

Same here. I’ll never forget where I was when it ended. I was listening while driving around the lakefront in New Orleans.
Looking back at it now it was arguably the most pivotable moment in LSU baseball history.

I was there with my brother who’s an aggie. There weren’t many LSU fans, mainly players’ family. LSU limped into the final while A&M destroyed everyone. Mike Bianco was on that team. After we won, the players came over the LSU section and we were leaning over the railing giving them high fives. I got a cup of ice in the back of my head from an aggie fan. I was so happy I didn’t even care. Probably my favorite LSU memory ever. And I’ve seen two LSU football nattys in person.

Current Ags head coach was starting 1B on that team.

My buddy and I were one of the few LSU fans there. It was awesome. I overheard one Aggie fan say they didn’t even bring their tickets for the second game because they wouldn’t need them. lmfao. We hung out with Tookie Johnson and the team drinking beer after the game. One of my best all time LSU moments.

I look at it the same way.

That was before the games were on television. I remember being riveted to the radio all day.

Awhile back I tried to find out if A&M's library had any of the games, but struck out. They do have many coach's videos of old football games.

I listened to both games whilst washing my house; very productive day.
