Holy hell. This show is great but is fricking brutal to watch. Can binge watch it because it is a 6 part series. Australian soldiers captured by Japanese during World war 2 and forced to build a railway. The story is just not about the war. Good watch but they say people can be cruel but man.

Japan was hard on Europeans but even more cruel to the Chinese. Unit 731 was brutal, used humans as experiments. Good show. Uncles wife was miscast though.

even more cruel to the Chinese
quote:
In late 1937, over a period of six weeks, Imperial Japanese Army forces brutally murdered hundreds of thousands of people—including both soldiers and civilians—in the Chinese city of Nanjing (or Nanking). The horrific events are known as the Nanjing Massacre or the Rape of Nanjing, as tens of thousands of women and girls were sexually assaulted. Nanjing, then the capital of Nationalist China, was left in ruins, and it would take decades for the city and its citizens to recover from the savage attacks.

Serious question because I usually watch TV while my wife is in the room doing homework or work work...
How much skin is there...We've been married for 23 years and I still get the side eye when there's even a hint of boobies on the tube

Got some sex but not over the top maybe one or two boobs shots in the whole series. Now to the main point has your wife seen pimp hand? Obviously not. Get control of this situation baw.
Good series just watch it

Always wondered why old men hated the Japanese and acted as if they were the human equivalent of dog shite. I see why.

Grandfather HATED the Japanese but then again he spent years of his life being shot at by them in the Pacific.

The scene in the rain was just brutal without giving SPOILERS if you watch this you will know what I am talking about

Yes. Was like please die. Felt so bad for the Aussie.

Finally finished the series (fittingly, on Memorial Day weekend).
Compelling and beautiful, to say the least (not to mention extraordinarily brutal).
This was one of the best series I've seen in a long time. Going to be thinking about this one for quite a while.

Dude, that's weird.
For your sake, I'm going to assume that you are projecting discomfort.
