Said Beck would be the DH at about 290 programs in the country.

Also said he firmly believes he had to go left handed batters there because the right handers were looking bad against that pitcher and lefty Brown hammered it.

From postgame press conference

So Jake brown being good means all left handed hitters can hit in that spot?

Sounds good.

No, it means lefties were seeing him better and it was pretty obvious. The guy had a weird delivery from the right and had the righties looking foolish. Then Pearson (lefty) sees him well enough to walk, and Brown (lefty) laces a triple.

It’s really not that hard to understand

I just don’t like PH for Stanfield who has been playing out of his mind, is a double machine, and one of your fastest players. Double makes it 7-5, +speed on 2nd and back to top of lineup

If this were anywhere near being true then he would have more than 1 AB in SEC play.

Righties were not seeing that guy very well. I'm fine with the moves.

If Stanny and Bras went up there and looked terrible while striking out yall would be roasting Jay for leaving 2 lefties on the bench.

How many game at bats has Beck had?

So he thinks Beck had a better chance at success than his right handed hitters with 100’s of at bats? What does that say about his roster

I'm perfectly fine with Reaves batting. Beck for Stanfield I can't rationalize though.

Well.... Brown couldn't the next at bat because he was stuck on 3rd and bama had the shift down pat.

Novel idea.... teach a lefty how to go oppo to left.

No doubt it's the old "matchup" versus let your better players play scenario.

Jay is a big matchup guy, he just is. You see the same thing with pitching decisions in our 3rd weekend games.

The question is when do you let the players keep playing regardless of "matchup." For instance, our top 4 pitchers are going to pitch regardless of the matchup.

After that, Jay is going to be looking at matchups. I am of the belief that if a guy is pitching well keep him in regardless. Like I would have kept Cooper in yesterday. Not saying he will pitch like that every game, but if he is, screw the "matchup." Because there is no guarantee what the next guy will do.

The same goes for your batters.

Honestly, I think Jay would admit to himself he was overthinking taking Stanfield out there due to "matchup."

It was ping to be a tall order regardless of who was batting. If Jay really feels Beck would be DH at 290 other programs why not give him some starts midweek in that role and see how he does.

How many MLB teams screw with their lineup at the relative rate of Johnson? Jay is a good coach but he is way overthinking his lineup. Play Brown at 1B and Jones at 3rd and be done with it

Who here thinks it’s the side you bat from versus the caliber and present effectiveness of the hitter that determines who should be hitting?

Not me.

Then you obviously don't know baseball or how it works and it shows. Leave the baseball talk to me and the guys who actually know baseball.

Case in point didn't you say by the end of the year that Reaves would be the everyday 3B? Let me answer that for you. Yes you did say that. You were so fixated with Reaves hitting against North Dakota St and North Alabama you failed to realize that SEC pitching might be a little different than what he was seeing against Purdue-Fort Wayne.

Then you flip flopped on the pitching staff. You said it was as good as advertised then you said maybe its not what we thought. Your a flip flopper and a dumbass all rolled into one. Learn the game and let us people who know baseball talk about it an analyze it. You go talk about high school softball or something

And it might come down to that. 3B is our biggest weakness offensively.
